Ford Bronco Filson Blends Serious Trail Hardware With Outdoor Luxury

Six years after the Bronco and Filson Wildland Fire Rig concept caught the attention of off-road fans, Ford and Filson are turning the idea into a production model. The new 2027 Ford Bronco Filson is much more than another appearance package.

The model brings together serious Bronco hardware and the outdoor style of one of America’s most recognizable adventure gear brands. It is aimed at buyers who want a rugged 4×4 with more comfort, richer materials, and a stronger sense of identity.

Ford first teased the production model in May 2026, and the final result is more ambitious than many expected. The Filson version gives the Bronco a more premium character without turning it into a soft luxury SUV.

Orders are expected to open in fall 2026, with first deliveries planned for early 2027.

Raptor Power Meets Sasquatch Hardware

The Bronco Filson becomes the first non-Raptor Bronco to use Ford’s 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6. Ford has not released final output figures, but the engine is related to the twin-turbo V6 used in the Bronco Raptor.

The model also comes standard with the Sasquatch package. That brings 35-inch rugged-terrain tires, front and rear electronic locking differentials, and high-performance Fox shocks with internal bypass technology.

A 10-speed automatic transmission is standard, while the suspension has been tuned to handle rough terrain without making daily driving unnecessarily harsh. Ford is clearly positioning the Filson as a more refined adventure model, rather than a pure desert-runner like the Raptor.

The result should give buyers strong off-road ability with a more comfortable personality. It still has the equipment needed for serious trails, but its focus is broader than speed across open desert.

Trail Technology Adds Real Capability

The Bronco Filson includes the off-road technology expected from a high-end Bronco. Trail Turn Assist helps tighten the turning radius on narrow trails, while Trail 1-Pedal Drive gives the driver more control during slow rock crawling.

Ford’s Terrain Management System also comes standard, with seven driver-selectable modes. These include Normal, Eco, Sport, Slippery, Baja, Off-Road, and Rock Crawl.

A 360-degree camera system helps the driver place the vehicle more accurately on difficult terrain. That is especially useful in a tall off-roader with wide tires and a high hood.

This technology does not replace the Bronco’s mechanical strength. It supports it, giving the driver more confidence when the trail gets tight, uneven, or technical.

Filson Gives The Cabin Its Own Personality

The biggest difference inside comes from Filson’s influence. The Seattle-based outdoor company has been making gear since 1897, and its design language fits the Bronco’s adventure image naturally.

The seats combine perforated quilted leather with durable woven fabric inspired by Filson’s rugged twill. The cabin also uses richer materials and detail work meant to feel durable rather than delicate.

Ford added ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and an upgraded Bang & Olufsen audio system. The Bronco Filson also receives better acoustic treatment, reducing wind and road noise by about 20% compared with early sixth-generation Bronco models.

That refinement matters on longer trips. The Filson is still built to get dirty, but it should feel quieter and more comfortable on the highway than a regular Bronco.

Removable Bags Make The Interior More Useful

The partnership goes beyond seat trim and badges. Ford added removable soft-sided storage bags throughout the cabin, including in the cargo area.

The bags are designed to resist water and dirt, making them useful for tools, first aid items, bottles, camping gear, and other equipment. They can be removed from the vehicle and carried to a campsite or trail stop.

A digital rearview mirror is also included, which helps when the cargo area is packed high with gear. Power running boards make it easier to access the cabin and load items onto the roof.

These details make the Bronco Filson feel more thoughtfully equipped than a normal special edition. The theme is not just decoration; it adds useful features for people who actually travel with outdoor gear.

The Exterior Gets Subtle But Distinctive Details

The Bronco Filson has its own exterior details without completely changing the familiar Bronco shape. A unique grille, painted wheel arches, painted mirror caps, and exclusive trail sights help separate it from the rest of the lineup.

Those trail sights can also serve as tie-down points for longer items such as canoes or other outdoor equipment. That gives the styling a practical purpose, which fits the Filson theme.

Ford will offer the model in colors including Field Green Metallic, Marsh Gray, Avalanche Gray, Desert Sand, Shadow Black, and Oxford White. The First Edition gets an exclusive Iron Sands Copper Metallic finish.

That limited First Edition also adds special fender badging, a serialized console plaque, and additional Filson-inspired cargo storage pieces.

Pricing Should Sit Near The Top Of The Bronco Lineup

Ford has not announced official pricing yet. Current estimates place the Bronco Filson in the mid-$70,000 range, which would make it one of the most expensive non-Raptor Bronco models.

That positioning makes sense. The Filson combines the 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6, Sasquatch hardware, premium interior materials, improved sound insulation, and exclusive design details.

It also gives Ford a Bronco that can appeal to buyers considering premium adventure SUVs such as the Land Rover Defender and Toyota Land Cruiser. The difference is that the Filson leans heavily into American outdoor heritage.

Filson is also launching a related clothing and accessories collection, giving the collaboration a lifestyle side beyond the vehicle itself.

A More Premium Bronco Without Losing The Trail

The Bronco Filson shows how Ford is trying to stretch the Bronco family without weakening its core identity. It adds comfort, quieter highway manners, and more premium materials, but it still keeps the off-road hardware that gives the Bronco its credibility.

That balance is important. A Bronco can become more expensive and more refined, but it still has to feel ready for mud, rocks, forests, and long weekends far from pavement.

The Filson model seems built around that idea. It is not the most extreme Bronco in the lineup, and it is not trying to replace the Raptor.

Instead, it gives Ford a rugged premium version with real trail equipment, useful adventure details, and a design story rooted in American outdoor culture. For buyers who want a Bronco that feels more polished without becoming fragile, the Filson could become one of the most interesting versions yet.
