When you buy a car, even if it is second-hand, you don’t go into it expecting many problems unless you are buying a project car. You expect a car like a 2023 Cadillac Escalade SUV to function as intended, with no real issues.
However, that isn’t what the woman who bought this particular 2023 Cadillac Escalade thought. The woman in question, TikTok user Jessica A. Hernandez (@sayjessstothehouse), said that the Escalade she bought had a massive leak at the top and claimed that every time it rained, water would leak into the car.
The video she posted has over 470,000 views at the time of writing, and it’s an eye-opening one. We see her inside her 2023 Escalade, and there is certainly a leak inside, and not a minor one either. Water is pouring in from the top of the car, filling the cabin.
It is perhaps the next bit, however, that will initially shock a lot of people. Because it transpired that she got in touch with Cadillac and General Motors, who apparently refused to fix the car for her. But there is always another side to a story.
What Was Wrong With the Cadillac Escalade?

In the video, the text overlay reads, “This is our 2023 Cadillac Escalade. Every single time it rains, water leaks inside the car. Cadillac and General Motors refuse to fix it.” So clearly, there is one very disgruntled Cadillac owner in the video. “Imagine spending six figures on a luxury vehicle, only to have water pouring into it and the manufacturer refuse to take responsibility,” Hernandez wrote in the caption.
The camera pans, and sure enough, there is a deluge of water coming into the car through the lights on one side of its interior. It isn’t just dripping in either, but seriously pouring into the Cadillac at a vast rate. What is a bit of a surprise to hear is that Hernandez claims that neither Cadillac nor General Motors were willing to fix the car, and instead said she would have to pay for it.
“Instead of standing behind their product, Cadillac and General Motors are telling us we need to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket — with no guarantee the repair will even fix the problem,” said Hernandez. She even went as far as to tag the dealership that she had bought the SUV from. It is worth noting, however, that there are always two sides to a story.
This Is Actually a Known Issue With the 2023 Escalade
Some people didn’t have a lot of sympathy for the Cadillac owner. Because there is actually a technical service bulletin from May 2023 that highlights the water leakage as a noted issue. The bulletin says that a sunroof drain hose can become kinked towards the connection at the wheel well. This will then cause water to leak into the Cadillac, as per the video.
There is a solution to the problem. The drain hose can be replaced, so you could go and get that sorted at a dealership. Yet despite it being a known issue, and clearly a serious one, there has not yet been a recall for the drain hose problem. Given it isn’t a recall issue, that could explain why GM and Cadillac won’t shell out to fix it for Hernandez.
