Imagine owning a Chevrolet Corvette but missing a car payment and having the car towed away for repossession. Things surely couldn’t get any worse. However, one Corvette owner who suffered this fate realized it could get worse.

The Corvette Club Instagram account showcased an incident where a tow truck came to tow away a red Chevrolet Corvette C7 in a repossession. That alone is enough to make you feel sad, but this owner may have winced when they saw the footage, as they had to contend with damage to their car because of how the tow truck was used.

The video shows the sports car’s alarm sounding as it is towed away, and it is clear the truck was causing damage as it tried to move the car. A lot of users were surprised by the angle at which the Corvette was being towed away.

That footage sparked quite a discussion in the video’s comments section. There was also debate over how long the Corvette had been sitting there, since it didn’t look like it was in the best condition when the tow truck arrived.

This footage was filmed from the rear of the tow truck, and we can’t imagine the Corvette’s owner would have been happy when they found out their car had been recovered. The Instagram video shows the tow truck pulling up behind the C7 Corvette and repositioning to attach and tow it away for repossession.

Adding to the drama, the alarm on the Corvette appeared to go off as it was towed away. Some, however, were not happy with how the Corvette was towed away. “How about the bit where he drags it down the road at 45 degrees?” one comment on the video said. The sports car did appear to be towed away at quite an extreme angle.

That could have caused significant damage to the sports car’s undercarriage. “I work at the auctions, and I’ll be the first one to tell you I HATE repo guys with a passion. They destroy every car that comes in,” said one Instagram user, seemingly backing up the fact that this isn’t a one-off occurrence with this Corvette. While it may hurt the owner to see their car repossessed, some wondered how long it had actually been sitting in a parking lot awaiting its fate.

Had This Car Been Sitting for Some Time?

A couple of Instagram users wondered if the Corvette had actually been sitting around much longer than initially we would have expected.

“That car had a ton of dust on it. Definitely had been there a minute,” said one of them. “Exactly what I was thinking too,” said another Instagram comment.

The bigger problem for the owner is that they had to endure having their vehicle repossessed, and it shows that not keeping up with payments can have serious consequences.
