A terrifying police pursuit in Arkansas ended with a Dodge Charger overturned in a field and a three-year-old child climbing out alive moments later.
According to Arkansas State Police, 23-year-old Thalia Jones refused to stop for troopers after officers attempted a traffic stop for speeding. Authorities said Jones was driving nearly 80 mph in a 55 mph zone while her young son sat inside the vehicle. What began as a routine stop quickly escalated into a dangerous chase across rural roads.
Dashcam footage later released by police captured the shocking crash and rescue. Troopers used a tactical maneuver to stop the fleeing Charger, causing the car to leave the roadway, cross a grassy shoulder, and flip onto its roof in a nearby field.
The video has since spread widely online, with many viewers stunned that the toddler survived the violent rollover crash without serious injuries.
Child Crawls Out Moments After Crash
Seconds after the Charger flipped, officers rushed toward the wreck with weapons drawn while shouting commands at the driver.
Jones could be heard yelling that her child was still inside the car. Moments later, the rear door opened, and the three-year-old climbed out of the overturned vehicle before running toward officers nearby, according to footage published by NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth.
The footage shows troopers quickly shifting focus from the arrest to the child’s safety. One officer calmly called the toddler over and guided him away from the wreckage while other troopers secured the scene.
Viewers online described the moment as unbelievable, with many commenting that the child appeared remarkably calm considering the severity of the crash. Authorities later confirmed the boy was checked by emergency responders and released to another responsible adult at the scene.
Jones also crawled out of the overturned Charger and was immediately taken into custody. Police said she was medically evaluated following the incident before being booked on multiple charges.
Police Criticize Driver’s Decision To Flee
Dashcam audio captured troopers expressing anger and disbelief after learning a child had been inside the speeding vehicle during the pursuit.
“You almost killed your kid,” one officer shouted at Jones after the crash. Another trooper called the decision to flee “the stupidest thing” she could have done.
According to police, Jones later admitted she ran because her driver’s license had been suspended. Authorities also alleged the Dodge Charger was not registered to her, leading to additional charges tied to unauthorized use of the vehicle.
Jones now faces several charges, including reckless driving, speeding, fleeing law enforcement, driving on a suspended license, child endangerment, and unauthorized use of another person’s property to facilitate a crime.
Police have not indicated whether additional charges may still be filed.
Viral Video Reignites Pursuit Debate

The dramatic footage has sparked widespread debate online over police pursuit policies, especially when children are inside fleeing vehicles.
Some viewers praised Arkansas State Police officers for quickly rescuing the child and preventing a potentially fatal outcome. Others questioned whether the chase should have continued once authorities became aware that a toddler was inside the car.
Despite the debate, much of the public attention has focused on the child’s survival. Many social media users described the boy’s escape from the overturned Charger as miraculous.
The incident also renewed discussion about vehicle safety and child restraints during crashes. Authorities have not confirmed whether the child was properly secured before the rollover, though many observers pointed to modern safety systems as a possible reason the toddler survived.
For now, the footage stands as a stark reminder of how rapidly a traffic stop can spiral into a dangerous situation when a driver decides to run from police, particularly with a child in the car.
