A crash in the Bronx left residents shaken after surveillance footage captured a car crossing into oncoming traffic before smashing into parked vehicles near a school route. The collision occurred near the intersection of Boston Road and Union Avenue in the Morrisania neighborhood at around 11:30 a.m. on Monday, June 15.
The impact sent one parked Toyota Highlander onto another vehicle, creating a scene that drew neighbors and workers into the street. Video of the aftermath showed one SUV resting on top of another as shattered glass covered the roadway.
For two men connected to the damaged vehicles, the timing could not have been closer. Each had stepped away from their cars only moments before the crash unfolded.
As investigators work to determine why the driver lost control, residents are left considering how different the outcome might have been if pedestrians had occupied the sidewalk or if either vehicle owner had remained inside.
Surveillance Video Captures the Collision

According to reporting by News 12 Bronx, surveillance footage showed a car believed to be an Infiniti swerving into oncoming traffic before striking a parked truck along Union Avenue. The vehicle then crashed into a parked Toyota Highlander with enough force to launch it onto another parked car.
The Highlander landed atop the adjacent vehicle, crushing part of its structure and shattering the windshield below. Images from the scene showed extensive damage to multiple vehicles lined along the street.
Emergency crews responded after a 911 call reported a crash involving parked cars. The FDNY confirmed that one person was transported to a hospital following the collision. Despite the destruction, authorities have not reported any fatalities or life-threatening injuries linked to the incident.
Two Drivers Had Walked Away Moments Earlier
Issa Jabbi had parked his Toyota Highlander and entered a grocery store nearby when he heard the sound of the crash outside. “I hear the noise. Boom,” Jabbi told News 12. “I thought an accident happened and I see my car on top of another car over there.” He said less than two minutes had passed since he stepped away from the SUV.
Jabbi explained that the vehicle played a role in supporting his household. Beyond the shock of surviving the incident, he now faces the challenge of replacing transportation connected to his income and family responsibilities.
Tyree Childs, a 26-year-old Uber driver, experienced a similar escape. Childs had been cleaning his work vehicle before deciding to leave earlier than planned.
He later reflected that if he had completed the process he originally intended, he might have remained inside when the collision occurred. “I’m super grateful,” Childs told News 12. “I’m only 26. I still have so much to live for.”
Witnesses Rushed To Help as Questions Remain
Justus Villalba, who works near the crash site, said he ran outside after hearing the impact and saw the driver trapped inside the vehicle. Villalba helped pull the driver from the wreckage while fearing leaking oil could ignite.
He told News 12 that the driver appeared disoriented during the first moments after the crash but was conscious. Witnesses said the driver was able to walk and talk before being taken for medical evaluation.
Villalba also pointed to another factor weighing on residents. A school sits nearby, and groups of children often travel along that stretch of road during the day.
As of June 18, authorities had not announced arrests, charges, or a confirmed cause for the crash. Investigators have not stated whether speed, distraction, impairment, a medical episode, or mechanical failure played a role.
For now, the Morrisania community is left with images of wrecked vehicles, accounts from men who escaped by moments, and relief that no pedestrians were caught in the path of a collision that could have claimed lives.
