The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is one of the best performance sedans money can buy. It is fast and great to look at, and yet it comes packed with all the luxury and comfort you’d expect from anything that Cadillac produces. Fans of the car will be happy to know it will survive into an all-new generation after 2026.
With over 600hp under the hood, for many that is more than enough power for a car. But for some, it’s clearly not quite enough. The guys at Late Model Racecraft (LMR) certainly didn’t think so, and so they set about giving the car a staggering 700hp, more than Cadillac could have dared believe it could have.
The team behind the upgrade says it is all about giving the car its extra power, but without compromising its daily drivability. They want to ensure it retains all of the good features of a Cadillac, while also giving it that little bit of extra excitement.
LMR says that the changes transform how the car responds on both regular streets and the highway. What they’ve been able to do is incredibly impressive, and it shows how much potential the base CT5-V Blackwing actually has.
How LMR Got 800HP Out of the Cadillac CT5-V
The car had come to the tuners via its owner, Mr. Nunez, and had it shipped from San Antonio to Houston, Texas, in order for the modifications to be carried out. This involved it being upgraded to LMR’s Stage 3 package, which also entailed the car getting up to 800hp in total for the planned upgrades.
As standard, the CT5-V Blackwing has 668hp and 659lb-ft of torque, so it is already pretty punchy. The car has a top speed of 200mph and a 0- 60 mph time of just 3.4 seconds. In terms of the upgrade package, LMR added a comprehensive array of new parts to the car to get it up and running with its extra power.
The upgrades included a new custom camshaft, long tube headers, and some specialized tuning. The supercharger remained stock; however, the upgrades now ensured it could spin harder than when it left the factory. The tuners said that, despite the upgrades, the car performed absolutely fine in everyday settings. So it was still a very comfortable sedan to drive, and still offered the reliability its owner would need.
How Much Power Does the Cadillac Now Produce?

According to the tuners, the Stage 3 800hp package that this Cadillac had is the most popular of theirs for CT5-V Blackwings. On top of the aforementioned upgrades, the Cadillac also came with a new cat kit, pulleys, a revised exhaust system and headers, as well as new spark plugs and wires. The new camshaft and headers also helped to make the Cadillac’s engine more efficient, especially on 93 octane.
On 93 octane, LMR said that the car made around 700hp, and that is with the factory 1.7-liter supercharger still under the hood. There is the chance that the owner could get up to 800hp out of the car, but 700hp keeps it within a usable limit. A few tweaks to the boost pressure have also aided in giving this car its extra grunt.
