A late-night (and rather dramatic) police chase in Arkansas ended with a blacked-out Dodge Challenger pinned between troopers. Officers believe the vehicle reached speeds of 130 MPH, swerved, almost hit other motorists, and drove into oncoming traffic.

In an incident report, the chase began a bit after 10:50 pm on May 4 when an Arkansas State Police trooper parked on I-430 southbound noticed the vehicle. It passed them at what appeared to be well over 110 MPH without its headlights on.

The trooper took chase, and the driver of the Dodge Challenger seemed to be playing a game of Chicken with the officer throughout the situation. At one point, the vehicle reaches a dead-end during the pursuit, and manages to turn the police around to escape.

As a result of the Charger’s speed, backup had to be requested from nearby agencies. For a while, only visual contact was maintained as the pursuit intensified.

Arkansas Driver Sends Police on Wild Chase

At one point during the Chargers’ wild ride, it turned on its headlights, only to turn them back off again while going at high speed. The chase then moved onto West Baseline Road, where officers were able to at least get the information of the car’s Texas license plate.

You can see the driver swerve towards other vehicles throughout the chase, coming so close as one foot from hitting them. When the driver hits a dead end, the officer in the video attempts a PIT maneuver, but does so unsuccessfully, sending the Charger back on the streets.

At one point, the driver reached speeds of 130 MPH without headlights on. To try to intercept, officers were forced to attempt to intercept the Charger, which just resulted in the driver avoiding a collision.

Dodge Charger Gets Spun Around

Even after all of that, the driver of the Dodge Challenger still managed to get away. However, another trooper executed a successful PIT maneuver, turning the Charger around.

At the same time, another trooper can also be seen helping pin the vehicle so that the suspects cannot escape. You can see the suspects immediately raise their hands in the air as Arkansas State Police raise their weapons to apprehend them.

Shortly after this stop, the officers placed handcuffs on the two suspects found within the vehicle and put them in the back of a police vehicle. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured as a result of the chase.

Hefty Charges for Sending Police on Chase

The two passengers were identified only as Flores and Cassion, with the former being the driver. During an investigation inside the Charger, officers found two open bottles of Modelo beer.

Flores blew a 0.02 during a breath test, but refused a chemical urine test because of Arkansas’s implied consent laws. He was charged with aggravated assault, felony fleeing, felony criminal mischief, DUI, and other misdemeanor offenses.

As for Cassio, he faces misdemeanor charges, such as public intoxication, contributing to a minor, open container violations, and drinking in public. As always, all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
