Dashcam footage sometimes shows off some of the wildest and most outrageous moments on the road that you can think of. A quick look at the r/dashcams subreddit on Reddit, for example, will show off some of the worst driving you can think of.
One video that recently went viral was posted by user 386attention on Channel 7 News Live. In the video, we are riding in a Georgia State police car as it conducts a very risky high-speed chase on a highway, with what appears to be a Nissan GT-R sports car as the suspect vehicle.
Given the speed of the car referred to as “Godzilla,” it is impressive that the police officer was able to keep up with the Nissan. However, it isn’t the chase itself that shocks people. It is what the officer then tried to do, at up to 140mph, with other cars around him.
The officer decided to try to ‘pit’ the Nissan right in front of the other cars. In other words, he tried to spin the GT-R around and stop it, but with all the other traffic, potentially endangering innocent motorists on the highway.
This Is What We See in the Footage
GSP attempts to pit next to civilian vehicles at 140 mph

The footage begins with the cop car chasing the Nissan and quickly catching up. The driver then tries to get into the right-rear corner of the GT-R and attempts to “pit” the Nissan, spinning it around to bring it to a stop. That attempt happened with traffic alongside, and, thankfully for those motorists, the Nissan didn’t spin out of control; it kept going.
The officer tried to catch up to the Nissan again, but after realizing what was happening, the GT-R driver hit the gas. There was no way that the police cars, whatever they were, could keep up with a supercar, even amongst the traffic. What didn’t help was that the dashcam car appeared to give up, with the Nissan seemingly reaching 175mph at one point.
“My car’s giving up on me,” an officer can be heard saying inside the car. He then starts to pull over and off the main highway to bring his crippled car to a stop. Clearly, it couldn’t deal with the high-speed chase, and they had to give up the pursuit. But near the end of the video, a suspect is seen being arrested and placed inside a police car at a gas station. As it turned out, the GT-R hit a hard median and needed to be pushed to the gas station. It is here that the police caught up with the driver and his friends who were in the car.
Reddit Users Didn’t Enjoy the Footage
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Reddit users weren’t happy at the attempt to put the car into a spin at such a high speed, with other motorists still around. “GSP don’t care. And GSP can’t keep up with a GTR,” said one comment below the video.
“Yeah, cop was like, ‘he’s losing it; don’t know how he saved it”…bro it’s an AWD car that can do 200 mph,” added another one. It was perhaps a bit naive to expect a regular police car to be able to keep up with one of the fastest cars to ever come out of Japan.
