Some truly wild dashcam footage has been posted on the r/dashcams subreddit, having also appeared on Instagram, showing a police chase that seemed to become a game of bumper cars. What looks like a standard stop at the exit of an interstate ended up becoming something much wilder.

After initially pulling the car over, the suspect then began to drive off and tried to make an escape. What followed was quite an intense police chase, with various cars getting involved to try to stop the individual from escaping. All of this took place as the cars wove between traffic on the interstate.

If that wasn’t wild enough, then it became a game of bumper cars as the car in question, a Toyota Corolla sedan, bumped into officers and patrol cars that were working hard to stop the suspect. By the end of it, the Toyota was looking incredibly battered.

The whole incident took place on quite a busy interstate. One of the patrol cars even pitched the Toyota into a spin and a crash, but the driver kept going, determined not to be caught up by the officers. In the end, resistance proved to be futile.

This Is How the Police Chase Unfolded

At the start of the video, the police were probably hoping this would be easy. They appeared to get the Toyota to pull over. However, when the officer stepped out of the car, the Corolla driver pulled the classic Houdini and began to drive off as fast as he could. Thus began the police chase, with the Corolla already battered and shedding bodywork.

Radio chatter confirmed that the cars were going at around 115- 120 mph on the interstate, with this Corolla driver determined not to be arrested. Unfortunately for him, he was rather outnumbered as the police weren’t giving up the chase. About a minute into the video, one of the patrol cars takes a swing at the Toyota and successfully pitches it into a spin, with the driver losing control.

More bodywork flies off the car, and the Toyota spins around and smashes into the dividing wall between the two interstate roads. At that point, you might think that is the end of the matter, and the driver would admit defeat. Quite incredibly, the Corolla proved how tough it was by surviving the accident, albeit with a lot of damage at the rear end. Despite that, the driver wasn’t going to stop, and he decided to keep trying to drive away despite being outnumbered.

One of the patrol cars kept ramming into the Toyota and hitting it in the corner, turning this into a full-on game of bumper cars. The driver was clearly trying to spin the Corolla around, but this driver just would not be deterred. In fact, he nearly managed to successfully turn one of the patrol cars around before one of them took another swing at the Toyota. Yet even when pushed onto the grass, this driver refused to give up.

Sadly for him, and thankfully for the officers and everyone else, they were able to spin the car onto the grass, drive into it, and prevent it from escaping. It turned out there were two people in the car, a man and a woman, and they, at that point, were ready to admit defeat. We don’t know the nature of the incident, or why the two were being chased by police. But the woman seemed quite rattled by the whole ordeal, while the man, who was seen smoking in the car, didn’t seem to care at all. Thankfully, no other road user appeared to be involved in the chase.
