The Ford Bronco is getting a significant performance upgrade for 2027, and buyers won’t have to stretch their budgets all the way to the range-topping Raptor to enjoy it. Ford is expanding access to one of its most powerful engines across several versions of the rugged SUV.

The Bronco has already established itself as a serious rival to the Jeep Wrangler, combining impressive off-road capability with distinctive retro-inspired styling. Now, Ford is giving customers another reason to consider its popular adventure-ready SUV.

Alongside the powertrain changes, the 2027 lineup introduces new special editions, updated interior materials, and additional comfort features. These improvements aim to make the Bronco appealing to a wider range of buyers.

The biggest news, however, is what’s happening underneath the hood. An engine previously reserved for the Bronco Raptor is finally making its way into several mainstream models, albeit with slightly less horsepower.

For 2027, Ford’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 becomes available on the Outer Banks, Badlands, and Heritage trims. It also comes standard on the newly introduced Bronco Filson, joining the existing Raptor.

In these models, the engine produces 380 horsepower and 440 lb-ft (597 Nm) of torque. That’s 38 horsepower less than the Raptor’s 418-hp version, although they deliver identical peak torque.

The 3.0-liter V6 delivers substantially more power and torque than the Bronco’s previous 2.7-liter EcoBoost option. Compared with that engine’s 330 horsepower and 415 lb-ft (563 Nm), the new powerplant delivers an additional 50 horsepower and 25 lb-ft (34 Nm).

The engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, sending power to all four wheels through the Bronco’s four-wheel-drive system.

More Comfort And New Interior Materials

Ford is also making several changes to the Bronco’s cabin for 2027. Outer Banks models equipped with the Lux Package receive premium vinyl upholstery instead of the previously standard leather seats.

Meanwhile, the Badlands gains upgraded marine-grade vinyl seating, including a newly available power-adjustable configuration. Big Bend buyers selecting the Mid Package can now enjoy a heated steering wheel, previously limited to more expensive versions.

The exterior color palette is changing, too, with Neptune Blue replacing Velocity Blue. The new Filson and RTR editions further expand the range of available Bronco configurations.

Pricing Is Still A Mystery

Ford hasn’t announced how much the new 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 will cost as an option on eligible Bronco trims. Pricing for the rest of the 2027 lineup is also unconfirmed.

Nevertheless, the expanded engine availability gives buyers a compelling alternative to the Raptor. Those who want serious twin-turbo V6 performance without stepping up to Ford’s most extreme Bronco now have several additional choices.
