When leaving a car show, such as a Cars & Coffee event, you’d have thought most people would by now have learned not to floor the throttle as they exit. Sadly, one C8 Corvette driver doesn’t seem to have gotten the memo.
There are plenty of videos online showing drivers slamming on the gas pedal as they leave these events. The outcomes are quite predictable, as these cars often suddenly step out at the rear and the drivers pile into an obstacle, another car, or crash onto the sidewalk.
It is certainly a surefire and fast way of getting yourself on social media and going viral. Of course, you can put on a bit of a show as you leave, but there is clearly a technique to it that many drivers haven’t mastered. As seen in this footage shared by Corvette Blogger.
In the video, we see an Arctic White Chevrolet C8 Corvette Z06 leaving a Cars & Coffee event that was recently held in Miami. There was initially a gentle application of the throttle, but then the driver decided to apply plenty of power. You can probably guess what happened next.
The C8 Corvette Didn’t Leave Quietly

In the video, shared initially on Instagram, the C8 Corvette can be seen slowly pulling out of the Cars & Coffee event. Finished in a very fetching Arctic White, it all looks pretty normal as the driver pulls away. In fact, the driver is taking it quite carefully, pulling out onto the main road safely, as you would in any other car. Then he finds the accelerator pedal.
The driver begins to apply power, and the C8 Z06 suddenly gets loose at the rear end. It’s visibly shaking, and most of us at this point would probably come off the throttle, take it as a warning sign, and head home without punching it. To us, that seems perfectly logical, but to this driver, not so much.
As we can see in the video, he decided to boot the throttle again. This time, however, he loses control of the sports car, and the Corvette spins out and comes to a rest on one side of the road. We can hear it strike something, and it looks like it does as it heads onto the sidewalk.
Sadly for us, the camera doesn’t get any closer to the car after it lands on the sidewalk. We can only speculate that it did hit something, but the sound and footage do suggest there is damage to the Corvette.
People Leaving Cars & Coffee Events Never Learn

If it is any consolation to this particular driver, he won’t be the first, and he certainly isn’t the last to leave a Cars & Coffee event like this. The internet is awash with similar videos of cars leaving these types of events. For whatever reason, people seem to get too excited about putting on a show and making the event memorable for those attending. Many of them achieve this, although not in the way that they had hoped.
More footage shared by Corvette Blogger and Instagram shows this off perfectly. At another car show in Florida, an orange C6 Corvette accelerated out of a corner, and when the rear end got squirrely, the driver over-corrected and slammed into a light pole on the other side of the road.
Given that everyone had their camera phones out, it was no surprise that this incident also went viral.
