A woman has posted a highly unusual story on her TikTok account after claiming that her Ford Bronco was damaged after she accidentally ran over a high heel in the Ford SUV. Mia Quaid (@miaquaid) posted a video of the incident to her TikTok.

The video has gone viral, with over 5.7 million views at the time of writing, and it has left quite a few people in shock. When you think about what could cause punctures and damage tires, high heels aren’t exactly the first thing that springs to mind.

High heels also aren’t likely to be something a lot of us run over. But Quaid was happy to share her story regardless, which could serve as a warning to others about what can damage your tires. The last thing anybody wants to deal with is a flat tire at the side of the road.

In her video, Quaid shows us a pair of red-and-cream Valentino slingback pumps that had been left on the side of the road. These were not hers, but had been left right next to where she had parked the Ford Bronco. You can probably guess what happened next.

How the High Heels Punctured the Ford Bronco’s Tire

The viral video shows Quaid explaining what went wrong with her Ford Bronco. The heels had been dumped where her Bronco had been parked, and it sounds as if they had been left there after Quaid had previously parked her car. She simply didn’t see them, nor would she expect to see something like that when she got into her car.

Quaid simply backed up, and one of the heels that was sticking up punctured a rear tire and then got lodged inside it. She wasn’t going anywhere, so she had to call roadside assistance. The technician who came to get the heel out of the tire could not pull it out, so he had to use a lift to raise the car up.

That meant the wheel had to come off the car, with the tire being pried off that way, with the heel still stuck inside. As you would understand, Quaib was not happy about what had happened. “Whoever left their Valentino heels next to the curb, you owe me a new tire,” she said in the caption to her video. Tires aren’t cheap, so that is a fair bit of money that Quaib will be out of pocket.

Will Her Tire Be Fixable?

Of course, there is a chance that her tire is fixable. Some punctures are easily fixed, and you can get many years out of the affected tire. AAA explained that it can depend on where in the tire the damage has been caused. If the puncture has been inflicted on the sidewall or the shoulder, these often require full replacement. If that is where Quaib’s tire has been damaged, then she will need a full replacement.

If the tire has only been damaged in the tread, however, then it might be repairable. Quaib might find that the classic patch-and-plug approach is enough to repair the tire. The plug fills the hole from the outside, with the patch sealing the inner liner. Incredibly, even if Quaib has to buy a new tire, it’s likely it will be far less expensive than the heels she ran over. They can retail between $1,100 and $1,800, so it is more costly for whoever left the shoes on the ground.
