A woman on TikTok has claimed that she has found the most affordable luxury car available right now. TikTok user Greta Devereux (@likevanfleet) said that her selection, which amazingly comes from the Mercedes range, is a perfect option for those who want luxury but without spending too much money.

On the face of it, buying a luxury car isn’t the smartest move for most of us. Sure, they look great and are incredibly comfortable. But they are expensive to buy, and they often aren’t the best investment due to how much they depreciate.

But Devereux has an interesting take on the matter. She says that it is actually an electric Mercedes that is the most affordable luxury car right now. She highlighted the EV market, with so many of them cropping up second-hand at some very low prices compared to as new.

With the potential savings you might make in gasoline too, Devereux was convinced that her option was the best choice, and that others should take notice. She shared her thoughts and reasoning in a TikTok video, which at the time of writing has had up to 400,000 views.

What Was the Car That Devereux Had Chosen?

“If you want a bougie car but you also want to save money, get yourself a Mercedes EQB—specifically, a 2023 Mercedes EQB,” said the TikTok user. She explained that, with the EV market being so volatile, you can get one of these luxury Mercedes for a very affordable price.

Devereux added, “The electric car market right now is doing so bad, so electric cars are super cheap because there are no longer tax credits.” Even without the tax credit, Devereux argued that an electric car was still a smart choice given the money you would save on gasoline. Then she factored in the lack of repair bills, as things like oil changes and engine repairs won’t be needed anymore. As long as the EV is reliable, nothing should need a repair.

“When you have the electric car—which, by the way, has a battery warranty for another seven years—you don’t have to worry about that,” she said. She claimed the only thing that you have to worry about is the tires your car runs on. At first, it might seem slightly far-fetched to say a Mercedes EQB is a smart luxury car choice. But dig a little deeper, and it turns out she actually might have a point.

This Could Be a Very Smart Option for Car Owners

EV prices on the second-hand market have fallen dramatically in the last few years. The 2023 Mercedes EQB specifically has suffered, as Kelley Blue Book (KBB) states the value has dropped by over 56 percent over the last three years. There are other luxury EVs also on the second-hand market, and they too might be good options. KBB also stated that the 2023 EQB is among the top 75-100 percent of 2023 SUVs in terms of its lost value.

The site claims that you can pick one up for below $25,000, a remarkably low number. Of course, there are other things to consider. Other parts will need care, such as the brakes and cabin filters, but EV batteries are lasting longer than many people expected. Some people in the comments section of Devereux’s video were not totally sold on the idea. But for less than $25,000, you could potentially land yourself a solid EV with plenty of luxury. With a range of up to 245 miles, it certainly does seem like a very good bargain.
