Widebody Eleanor Mustang With Supercharged Coyote V8 Is Heading To Barrett-Jackson In June

Few movie cars have achieved the legendary status of Eleanor from Gone in 60 Seconds. The silver 1967 Mustang-inspired machine became an instant icon after the 2000 film and has remained one of the most recognizable custom Mustangs ever built.

For years, legal disputes surrounding the Eleanor name and likeness made officially licensed builds nearly impossible. That situation has changed recently, opening the door for certified continuation-style examples to enter the collector market.

Now, one particularly wild version is preparing to cross the block at Barrett-Jackson’s inaugural Columbus auction later this month. The heavily modified widebody fastback combines classic movie styling with thoroughly modern performance hardware.

Even among the endless stream of high-end restomods, this thing stands out. It looks aggressive, packs serious power, and will sell at no reserve.

A Modern Eleanor With Serious Hardware

The car heading to auction is officially described as a 1967 Ford Mustang Eleanor Widebody Limited Edition. It is build number five out of a planned production run of just 60 examples.

Unlike some tribute builds, this one started life as a genuine 1967 Ford Mustang fastback. The body was then transformed with handcrafted all-metal widebody panels that progressively widen the car by seven inches from front to rear.

Finished in Pepper Gray Metallic with black Le Mans stripes, the car closely follows the visual formula made famous by Gone in 60 Seconds. Movie-correct styling details include the signature nose treatment, side-exit exhaust design, custom deep-dish Eleanor-style wheels, and integrated LED lighting.

Under the hood sits a Roush-supercharged 5.0-liter Coyote V8. The intercooled aluminum-block engine is paired with a TKX five-speed manual transmission and appears to deliver the kind of performance the original movie car could only dream about.

The engine bay itself is heavily modernized, with billet components, upgraded cooling hardware, and custom fabrication throughout. Barrett-Jackson’s preview video also highlights the car’s detailed suspension work and oversized braking setup.

Baer six-piston disc brakes with drilled and slotted rotors handle stopping duties at all four corners. The chassis also receives a completely modern suspension system designed to dramatically improve handling compared to any original 1960s Mustang.

Inside, the build leans heavily into its cinematic inspiration. The cabin includes the famous “Go-Baby-Go” shifter along with a nitrous bottle mounted in the rear, echoing details from the film car.

Modern conveniences are blended into the retro design as well. Features include push-button start, power windows, power locks, air conditioning, and a 1,600-watt audio system with 10-inch subwoofers.

The interior also carries official Eleanor branding and custom trim details throughout the cabin. Barrett-Jackson’s walkaround video repeatedly emphasizes the amount of billet aluminum work and overall attention to detail inside the car.

Certified And Fully Documented

One major selling point is the car’s official certification paperwork. The build includes licensed Eleanor VIN plates, emblems, and documentation confirming its status as part of the limited-edition production series.

The Mustang was also rotisserie restored during the build process. Included with the sale is a detailed restoration book containing more than 200 photos documenting the project from start to finish.

Barrett-Jackson notes that the title carries a Non-Actual Mileage warning due to an odometer discrepancy. That is not unusual for heavily restored and modified classic cars of this type.

Crossing The Block With No Reserve

The Eleanor Widebody Mustang will be offered as Lot 727 during Barrett-Jackson’s Columbus auction, which runs June 25 through June 27 at the Ohio Expo Center. Most notably, the car will cross the block with no reserve.

That creates the possibility of aggressive bidding as collectors compete for one of the most recognizable movie-inspired Mustangs ever built. Eleanor replicas are no longer as unattainable as they once were, but officially certified examples with this level of engineering and presentation remain rare.

Whether you love the Eleanor phenomenon or think it has become overdone, there is no denying this Mustang makes an impression. A supercharged Coyote V8, a seven-inch-wide steel body, and movie-icon status tend to have that effect.
