YouTuber Westen Champlin is known for making some seriously fun videos. In fact, his bio says, “We make videos and have fun doing so,” but his latest one didn’t go according to plan. The YouTuber and his team bought some jet boats from Temu, because who doesn’t love a good Temu purchase now and then.
Champlin loves a challenge, and the idea of taking these boats and seeing what they could do certainly appealed to him. Having ordered the boats around three months ago, they recently arrived, and they had been described as ‘mini jet boats’, with electric power, and they looked a lot of fun.
Photos of the boats on the Chinese marketplace suggested that, while they were clearly small, the boats were a similar size to the one Champlin already had. But in the opening to the video, he was wary of them being smaller than what the pictures showed.
After opening the first box, his worst fears looked to be confirmed, and the boats weren’t quite as big as he had hoped. In fact, after taking a quick look at them, the YouTuber wasn’t sure if he’d actually be able to fit into them or not. But as we said, he loves a challenge.
The Jet Boats From Temu Looked Too Small for the Youtuber
It was after cracking open the first container that Champlin realized that the boats might be a bit small. But he still thought they looked quite cool. After getting in one of them, he knew he might have some trouble using it on the water. His team members, meanwhile, easily fit inside the electric boat.
But for full-size adults, these boats are a little bit on the small side. They do, however, have some cool features, most notably the electric powertrain as well as the LCD display. Despite their fears, the boats are taken to Champlin’s Horsepower Ranch pond to see if they will work, and if Champlin himself will roll over. Cue amusing scenes as Champlin tried to get himself into one in the water.
“The boats were really good. Right up until they both got a hole in it at the exact same second I got in them,” said Champlin. He did get in one, and he did manage to get going in one, although as he came to a stop, the front did dip into the water. Champlin’s colleague Kyle tried one of the boats, and he not only got in easier, but was able to go much faster than Champlin. We have to admit, this looked like a lot of fun.
Champlin Wouldn’t Be Defeated by the Temu Boats
Champlin tried two of the boats, and sadly, he managed to basically sink both of them. He admitted that a man of his stature was always likely to struggle with them. Later in the video, not wanting to be defeated, he decided to wheel out another jet boat he’d owned for two years but never ran, and one that was bigger than his Temu boats. The team took the boats out on a little adventure, but that brought with it a few other problems.
The boats became grounded on the shallow water, some of them overheated, and even the Jeep they took to get to the river got stuck in the mud. But a huge Ford Bronco came in and saved the day, and everyone was able to get back to Champlin HQ in one piece, complete with the boats. After more drama and getting stuck a bit more, everything eventually made it back home as night fell. Who knew that cheap Temu vehicles could cause so much carnage?
