Tom Cruise is easily one of the most famous actors in the world. His starring roles in the Mission: Impossible franchise and Top Gun and Top Gun: Maverick are just some of the films that have helped make him a cultural icon. And it isn’t just movies that Cruise loves.
He has always had a love for all things automotive. Like many fellow film stars, he has amassed an amazing collection of cars over the years. Yet it isn’t his cars that are perhaps the craziest of his personal belongings. That honor lies with his aircraft.
Top Gun has shown just how much of a lover of aviation Cruise is. In that film, he got to fly in an F-14 Tomcat, while in the sequel he was able to fly in the equally amazing F/A-18 Hornet. His love for aviation is so big that Cruise actually owns a few aircraft of his own.
Pride of Cruise’s collection is a World War 2 warbird that he actually flew in Top Gun: Maverick. But Cruise also has more modern aircraft he can call his own, and what he does own is incredibly impressive.
A P-51 Mustang Is the Main Love for Cruise

Who can’t help but love the North American P-51 Mustang? Cruise certainly loves it, so much so that in 2001, he bought his very own P-51 Mustang and restored it to flight. It even made an appearance in Top Gun: Maverick, in which Cruise’s character, Maverick, flew his girlfriend Penny, played by Jennifer Connelly, at the end of the movie.
Cruise’s Mustang was built in 1946, just after the end of World War II. It spent many years in an Illinois museum and underwent a restoration in 1997. Cruise himself has also worked on the aircraft, and it is easily his pride and joy. Cruise nicknamed the aircraft ‘Kiss Me, Kate,’ and it is preserved in immaculate condition.
The P-51 is arguably the best fighter aircraft built for World War 2. It was designed to escort American bombers during bombing raids over Nazi Germany, as there was a dire need for a fighter with enough range to be able to do so. The most famous version is the P-51D, which has a British Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, licensed built in America by Packard, under the hood.
What Else Does Cruise Own?

There are a couple of other aircraft in Cruise’s collection. One of those is a HondaJet, which he used to fly James Corden in during a segment for the Brit’s Late Night TV show. Built by Honda, it is a light business jet that first took to the skies in 2003, with production versions emerging on the scene in 2025. It is still produced by Honda in 2026, and it is one of the coolest light aircraft ever built.
Cruise also owns a Gulfstream IV G4 jet. This is a larger business jet, with a price tag of around $20 million, and it is large enough to accommodate around 19 passengers on board. Plus, it is packed with plenty of luxury, including a jacuzzi and movie screening room, which is very on brand for Cruise. It is quite clear that the actor loves his aircraft, and we can’t lie, we are very jealous of the aircraft he does own. Particularly the gorgeous P-51 Mustang.
