The Ferrari Luce certainly got the world’s attention when it was unveiled. And yet, despite the mixed reaction to the EV, incredibly, it is sold out for 2026 and 2027 worldwide. So while it might have seemed unpopular, clearly that’s not quite true.
Regardless of this, whenever a new Ferrari appears, you always end up wondering who will end up buying it. More specifically, what famous people will end up getting them? Because Ferraris are very much something that the rich and famous love due to the history behind the brand.
Some love Ferrari just because it gives them a chance to flex their wealth. But there are plenty out there who do love the brand and the cars it produces. However, there are some who you won’t ever see behind the wheel of a Ferrari Luce, even if it had been universally popular.
We’ve had a look at a handful of celebrities who we don’t think are going to buy a Luce anytime soon. There are various reasons behind the fact that they won’t get their hands on a Ferrari, not just the Luce, but of any kind for that matter.
Jay Leno Will Never Buy a Ferrari
Jay Leno is one of the most obvious candidates for never owning a Ferrari Luce. In fact, Leno will never own a Ferrari full stop. He has a lot of admiration for the cars themselves, but that was never the problem. Leno just doesn’t want to have to prove himself worthy of buying the cars, comparing buying a car from Maranello to a “dominatrix weekend.”
Alongside Leno, former Ferrari chairman Lucia di Montezemolo is also never going to be seen with a Luce. In fact, the former Ferrari chief blasted the EV when it was revealed, calling it a disgrace and that it wasn’t a car worthy of the Prancing Horse logo. Di Montezemolo even joked that, as it was, in his eyes, such an unattractive car, the Chinese wouldn’t even entertain the idea of making a copy of it.
Justin Bieber Is Reportedly Blacklisted by Ferrari
You are also highly unlikely to ever see Justin Bieber buy a Ferrari. This isn’t down to a dislike of the brand, but because Maranello has apparently ‘blacklisted’ him from ever buying one of their cars. Ferrari has never released an official ban list, but it is alleged the singer breached the brand’s ownership code of conduct with his Ferrari 458 Italia, having lost the car for three weeks and aggressively modifying the car.
Don’t ever expect to see Jeremy Clarkson behind the wheel of a Luce as well. Clarkson isn’t the biggest fan of EVs, and has spoken during a Q&A at his pub that he just doesn’t get excited by them, and would find it hard to conduct a review on one. He may, however, be curious to see what all the fuss is about one day.
Gordon Ramsay Likes Good Old V12 Power
TV chef Gordon Ramsay is also unlikely to want to get behind the wheel of a Ferrari Luce EV. He has too much love for internal combustion, and that is evident by the cars that he owns from Maranello. Ramsay has a LaFerrari, LaFerrari Aperta, F12tdf, Monza SP2, and Purosangue. With so much V12 power in his garage, why would he want to swap any of them for a Ferrari powered by batteries?
