Ferrari seems to be getting a lot of attention at the moment, although not necessarily for the right reasons. The Italian company launched its first EV recently, the Luce, and it didn't go down well with everybody. Thankfully, for those who prefer a more traditional Ferrari, something is coming that will appeal to them.
Regular supercar spotter Varryx has been lucky enough to spot a Ferrari 12Cilindri Version Speciale (VS) prototype out and about testing around Maranello. This new version of the 12Cilindri is set to be lighter, sharper, and more track-focused than the supercar.
Ferrari is being quite tight-lipped as to what we can expect from this new car. There is no word on the maximum power it will produce, nor how they have kept the weight down and added performance. But rumors suggest that a full reveal of the car could happen later in June 2026.
The sighting of the prototype could be seen as some relief for Ferrari. The Luce EV has divided opinions due to its looks and its electric drivetrain. So, to see a traditional Ferrari with a big V12 under the hood during testing has appeased those who weren't happy about the Luce.
The prototype that Varryx spotted was finished in camouflage, something that many manufacturers love to do with their prototypes. It hid the intricate details of the new supercar, although there was still plenty to analyze from the Instagram user's post.
Firstly, there is a huge ducktail spoiler at the back of the car. This gives it away as a VS model, as the regular version doesn't have this massive spoiler. The spy shots clearly show it is visible, and they also show a reworked front bumper with a few extra aerodynamic pieces, most notably the front winglets on either side of the car.
The rear also has what look to be fake exhaust tips. That seems unusual, but Ferrari could well be hiding the actual redesigned exhaust system that the VS is expected to have. Compare this prototype to the regular 12Cilindri, and it is clear there have been changes in this area. The heavy camouflage annoyingly blocks out any other details that have been changed, but the images give us a good idea of what to expect.
What Else Do We Know About This New Ferrari?

As the name suggests, the VS is expected to be a more hardcore version of the regular 12Cilindri. It should be lighter, have sharper handling, and be a bit sportier. Ferrari is highly likely to have produced handling tweaks, but in terms of engine performance, we are in the dark as to what the power output might be.
The standard supercar has a 6.5-liter F140 HD V12 under the hood, making 819hp and 500lb-ft of torque. It is also naturally aspirated, and it is the same engine used in the Ferrari 812 Competizione. With more of a focus on performance than the standard model, we wouldn't be surprised to see a power increase when Maranello officially takes the covers off the new car. But that isn't all that Ferrari might have in store for us.
A Manual Version Might Be in the Offering

A manual version of the 12Cilindri is expected to be shown off to clients at the Ferrari Cavalcade later in June, with a full reveal to the world coming in July. This is set to be a limited edition model, and produced exclusively for some of Ferrari's top clients. Essentially, Maranello will decide if you should be allowed to own it or not. The Ferrari Cavalcade takes place on June 29th, 2026.
