A tire replacement company employee is lucky to be alive after her van was almost obliterated on the side of the road while performing roadside service for someone. It all stems from the fact that a driver wasn’t paying attention when they should have.

According to the TikTok video, which further details everything that happened, the damage looks really severe. It also says that had the incident happened only a minute earlier, things would have turned out much differently.

If you take anything from this video, it’s the lesson to move over whenever you see a vehicle on the shoulder of a highway. It doesn’t matter what they’re doing, because you never know what could happen.

That’s especially so when you consider just how fast the vehicle must have been going to cause so much distraction. It’s almost a miracle that no one was injured.

That Was a Close Call

@jai_shantePART 2 đź’” | AUGUST 16, 2026 This is the actual footage from immediately after we were hit while performing a tire replacement on I-20. What makes this even harder for me to process is Part 1. In Part 1, you can hear me say I was going to drop the tire off to my driver and leave to handle another call. I didn’t. I decided to stay and help with the tire replacement. Before my dad arrived with our tire van, I was sitting behind the customer’s Nissan waiting for him. We were on the phone as he approached, and he asked if he had enough room to pull in front of me. I told him yes. He told me to pull my truck up behind his van, and I specifically told him I was going to stay farther back so approaching drivers could see my flashing lights and hopefully start slowing down BEFORE they reached us. I kept my hazards on. We started the tire replacement. Approximately 45 seconds before the impact, we were both positioned beside that Nissan removing the tire. You can see it at the beginning of this video. Had the timing been slightly different, the outcome could have been very different. The language you’re hearing is raw. This wasn’t recorded later for social media. This was me immediately after the collision, full of adrenaline, scared, angry and trying to process what had just happened. Some things were said in the heat of that moment, and I’m leaving the footage as it happened. We could have lost our lives that day. I’ve said it before, and unfortunately now I have lived it: THIS IS WHY THE PRICE IS THE PRICE. When you call someone to service your vehicle on the side of a highway, you’re not only paying for a tire change. You’re paying a technician to bring their equipment, experience and put themselves feet away from highway traffic to get YOU safely back on the road. Please — SLOW DOWN. MOVE OVER. Roadside workers have families waiting for them at home too. ❤️ Top Quality Roadside Assistance♬ original sound – Jai | Top Quality Roadside

The TikTok video starts with what looks to be a quick fix on the tire of the Top Quality Roadside van. However, the next clip shows just how differently things turned out only 45 seconds later.

There isn’t any footage of the actual crash as it took place, but it did a large amount of damage not only to the roadside service truck, but to the vehicle that the employee was helping.

The van looks totalled, with the front right bumper and side panel caved in as it lies on its side. Another van can be seen with blown-out tires and damage to the back doors, while a third vehicle, a sedan, can be seen with really intense rear damage.

It almost looks as though it was crumpled up, like aluminum foil. All in all, it appears that everyone was okay, though the employee of Top Quality Roadside wants to make sure that the message gets out there: move over for vehicles on the side of the road.

In a different post, it was revealed that service would temporarily be suspended while they get a new van.

People Can’t Be Replaced

Commenters were mostly relieved that everyone involved apparently made it out of the crash okay, but plenty were also angry that something like this could happen in the first place. Several pointed directly to Georgia’s move-over law, with one person arguing that drivers need to change lanes when approaching vehicles stopped along the highway.

Others said they don’t even wait to determine why a vehicle is sitting on the shoulder before giving it extra room. “This exactly why I move over a lane when I see a car on the side of the road,” one person wrote, while another said incidents like this are precisely why they refuse to work on their own vehicle along a highway.

Distracted driving was another major concern. One commenter who said they spend time on the road described seeing people using their phones as “CRAZY,” while others called for those responsible to face serious consequences. Some people with roadside-work experience went even further, saying the danger from passing traffic has convinced them to stop offering services along interstates entirely.
