Getting a parking ticket on a Ferrari is annoying. Finding serious damage on the car afterward is something else entirely.

That is the controversy now making the rounds online after Ferrari Purosangue owner Ethan Duran posted a viral Instagram Reel accusing a New York City officer of damaging his SUV while it was fitted with a wheel clamp, or boot.

In the video, Duran points to visible damage on the front-left wheel and lower front bumper area while blaming the officer named on the ticket. He claims the booting incident left his Ferrari with expensive cosmetic damage.

While the post has exploded across social media, the internet is far from convinced that police are definitely to blame.

Duran’s Instagram post directly accuses a police officer of damaging his Purosangue during the booting process, with the caption referencing “Footage of William O’Brien 4134 damaging my Ferrari.” The video shows scraping and impact marks around the front-left wheel area and lower bumper.

Reports summarizing the clip say the damaged front-left wheel alone could be extremely costly, with estimates around $16,000 for a replacement.

That is the kind of number that turns a simple parking enforcement story into a headline fast.

Many Commenters Think The Damage Happened Another Way

A big share of the reaction online has not gone Duran’s way.

Many commenters on the post argue that the damage pattern looks more like the Ferrari was moved or attempted to be driven with the boot still attached. Several commenters point to apparent contact marks on the bumper and deformation on the boot itself as signs that the car, not the officer, may have caused the damage after the clamp was installed.

At this point, that remains speculation from commenters, not a proven conclusion.

Why The Story Blew Up So Fast

Part of the reason this got traction is the car involved.

The Ferrari Purosangue is Ferrari’s first four-door, four-seat production model, powered by a naturally aspirated V12 with 715-horsepower, and positioned as one of the most exclusive performance SUVs on the market. That only makes the idea of it being immobilized by a parking boot seem even more surreal.

When the vehicle in question is a six-figure Ferrari, even minor-looking damage quickly becomes major money.

What Is Still Unknown

The key issue here is that there is no publicly verified evidence yet proving exactly when the damage occurred.

Duran blames the officer and the booting process. A large number of commenters blame Duran or whoever may have tried to move the vehicle afterward. The video itself shows the aftermath, but not a full sequence that proves one version over the other.

Until that changes, this remains a viral accusation rather than a settled fact.

Expensive Lesson Either Way

Whether the damage came from the clamp being installed incorrectly or from the car being moved with the boot still attached, the result is the same: one very expensive Ferrari ended up hurt over a parking enforcement situation.

That is a brutal way for any Purosangue owner to learn that city parking and exotic cars do not mix well.
