You know a matter could be serious when agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) step in to investigate a case, usually involving extensive searches and investigations that last for hours.

A case that required the New York FBI division to step in and work with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) auto crimes task force was reported from Miami, leading to the arrest of the owner of Cube Motors.

The action against Aslan Abdullayev, 37, highlights the gravity of the situation, as he allegedly changed the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of a 2019 Mercedes-Benz. Notably, the exact model of the vehicle has not been reported yet.

He now faces multiple charges and remains in jail despite a $12,500 bond, due to an immigration hold.

Neighbors in the area of Northwest 79th Street and Third Avenue in Miami informed CBS News that FBI agents entered Cube Motors around 6 a.m. Wednesday, leading to Abdullayev’s arrest.

FBI agents were spotted by the media outlet inside the gate of the auto dealership, taking pictures of the business and the cars present there. A man was seen coming out of the dealership with his hands up, while another man in handcuffs was being questioned by the agents.

Both men were eventually released, and it is unknown whether Abdullayev was one of them. Around five vehicles were reportedly towed from the dealership, but the report does not confirm if they were stolen vehicles.

The arrest report reveals a 2019 Mercedes with a Texas license plate number that was declared stolen on May 18, 2025, as per the New York Police Department.

Further investigation revealed that Abdullayev changed the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of the vehicle to a different label, said to be of inferior quality to the ones made by the Mercedes-Benz Group.

The report confirmed that City of Miami police were not involved in the investigation, while Miami-Dade police were at the scene when the FBI conducted an investigation at the dealership.

Following the FBI investigation at Cube Motors, the business was shut down, and a padlock was placed on the front gate. Abdullayev is facing multiple charges, including grand theft, selling a vehicle with an altered ID, and counterfeiting a VIN decal.

Nissan, BMW, and Corvette Vehicles Among Those Seized

According to another report by 7 News Miami, the FBI released a statement that said it was “conducting court ordered law enforcement activity.”

The report adds that a dozen or more vehicles were being towed out of the dealership, while some were parked down the street. Some of those vehicles included a gray Mercedes-Benz, a white Nissan, a black Corvette, and a red BMW.

This suggests that several other vehicles could also have been stolen and tampered with, apart from the Mercedes mentioned earlier. However, authorities have not revealed further details about the ongoing investigation.
