Few automotive manufacturers have quite the history of Porsche. We all know them, of course, for creating the 911, perhaps the greatest sports car ever made. Of course, there is plenty more to the company’s history, with cars like the 924, 928, 944, and, latterly, the Cayenne and the Taycan EV.

This year is an important one for the company, as it is celebrating its 75th anniversary in the United Kingdom. Not wanting to let an anniversary slip, Porsche has decided to mark the occasion with a special model based on the 911 GT3.

This is the Porsche 911 GT3 Earls Court 51 Edition, with its public reveal at the Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit over the weekend of June 20th and 21st. The car was shown alongside a recommissioned example of the 1951 Porsche 356 Coupe, finished in the same color as the new celebration model.

As the name suggests, just 51 examples of the car will be built, and all are for the UK market. So if you want to get your hands on one, you need to live in the UK and also move quickly before they are all snapped up!

What Makes the Porsche 911 GT3 Earls Court Edition So Special?

The biggest standout from the new Porsche is the color, which properly pays homage to the United Kingdom. The car is finished in a stunning Earls Court Green Metallic, and the Porsche 356 coupe that was recently recommissioned was also finished in the same livery.

The car was developed by Porsche Cars Great Britain, with the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur team from Stuttgart, Germany, helping out in its design. Four goals were laid out for the new car. These were a link to the original 356, a focus on driver engagement, to celebrate the heritage of the Earls Court Motor Show, and to have the design align with the 1956 356 coupe.

Porsche chose the 911 GT3 Touring Package as the base for the car, and even color-matched it perfectly to the 356 coupes shown at the 1951 Earls Court Motor Show, which also played a part in the name of the new special edition. The car was unveiled at the Icons of Porsche, Sunstede Silverstone Edition event, with it presented alongside the restored 356 coupe.

How Much Will This Special Edition Porsche Cost?

Porsche will build just 51 examples of this special edition. The company says that it will be priced at £251,951, which is roughly $337,262 at the current exchange rate. Only a handful of options will be available to customers, including a choice of a manual or PDK transmission, as well as a leather-wrapped luggage compartment.

Under the hood, the Porsche has the 4.0-litre flat-six engine, producing 502hp and 331lb-ft of torque. So there is plenty of Porsche power on offer for those lucky enough to snag one of these cars. While produced in small numbers and only available in the UK, it is great to see Porsche committed to making sure each market has a unique version to celebrate significant milestones. Porsche is a popular brand in the UK, and we can see these special editions being snapped up very quickly; their values are likely to rise considerably as the years go by.
