Eminem’s Ex-Wife, Kim, Arrested for Suspected DUI Just Days After Pleading No Contest to Prior Crash Charges

If timing is everything, Kim Scott’s timing could hardly be worse. The ex-wife of rap icon Eminem was taken into custody this week on suspicion of drunk driving, only days after appearing in court to resolve misdemeanor charges from a previous alleged impaired driving crash.

According to Chesterfield Township Police Detective Sergeant Joseph Feld, the latest incident happened around 9:20 p.m. Wednesday in the Detroit metro area’s 21 Mile Road corridor, where Scott allegedly struck a parked vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Authorities booked Scott into the Macomb County Jail in Mount Clemens, Michigan, early Thursday morning before she was later released.

What makes the situation especially difficult to ignore is how closely it follows another alleged impaired driving incident from February involving Scott, whose legal name is Kimberley Anne Mathers. Earlier this week, Scott entered a no-contest plea to misdemeanor charges tied to that crash, which prosecutors say involved her striking a parked pickup truck before driving home and crashing into her own garage.

What Happened Wednesday Night

Details remain limited on Wednesday’s incident. Police say Scott struck a parked vehicle in the 21 Mile Road area around 9:20 p.m. No injuries were reported, and investigators have not publicly said where she was coming from or where she was headed at the time.

Scott was taken into custody and booked at the Macomb County Jail before being released shortly afterward.

The February Crash Case

The February crash was notably more serious. Prosecutors say Scott, legally identified in court records as Kimberley Anne Mathers, was driving a white Range Rover on February 16 when she struck a silver Dodge Ram pickup truck parked on a residential street.

According to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office, the impact pushed the parked truck roughly 50 feet from where it had originally been parked. Prosecutors also alleged Scott was impaired at the time of the collision.

Scott allegedly had her son, Parker, and three of his friends inside the vehicle during the incident. Rather than stopping to report the crash, authorities say she drove home, where she then struck her own garage door.

She was later transported to a hospital for injuries sustained during the incident.

Scott Entered a No-Contest Plea This Week

On Monday, May 11, Scott appeared before Judge William H. Hackel III in the 42-2 District Court in New Baltimore, Michigan.

She was charged with Operating While Impaired, a 93-day misdemeanor, and Failure to Stop After Collision, a 90-day misdemeanor. Prosecutors stated those were the maximum charges available under Michigan law based on the evidence presented at the time.

After the arraignment, Scott immediately entered a no-contest plea to Operating While Impaired and Failing to Report an Accident.

Her sentencing hearing is currently scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.

Body Cam Footage Drew Additional Attention

Body camera footage from the February incident reportedly showed officers administering a breathalyzer test after arriving at the scene.

Investigators also allegedly discovered bottles of soft drinks mixed with alcohol inside the vehicle. Those details quickly fueled public discussion surrounding the case, particularly because children were reportedly present during the crash.

While the latest arrest remains separate from the February case, the timing of the two incidents occurring so close together has only intensified attention surrounding Scott’s legal situation.

Kim Scott and Eminem Have a Long Public History

For those unfamiliar, Kim Scott and Eminem have one of the most publicly documented relationships in modern music history.

The two were married in 1999 and divorced in 2001. They briefly remarried in 2006, though that second marriage lasted only a few months before ending as well.

Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, frequently referenced their turbulent relationship throughout his music career, making Scott a recognizable public figure long before the recent legal troubles.

In more recent years, Scott has largely stayed out of the public spotlight, which is part of why the new arrest quickly generated renewed national attention.

The New Arrest Could Complicate Sentencing

The latest suspected DUI arrest could now become a major factor as Scott approaches her June sentencing hearing tied to the February crash case.

Courts often consider recent conduct when determining sentences, particularly when a new arrest occurs shortly after a plea agreement involving similar allegations. Whether prosecutors attempt to introduce the new arrest during sentencing proceedings remains unclear.

There is also a broader public safety issue underlying stories like this. Impaired driving incidents are not simply celebrity gossip or embarrassing headlines. They pose real risks to everyone sharing the road, especially when crashes occur in residential areas or involve passengers.

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido emphasized that point following Scott’s plea earlier this week, stating that driving under the influence is not merely a lapse in judgment but a decision that places other people at risk.

For now, Scott remains presumed innocent in the newest suspected DUI case unless and until proven guilty in court.
