The r/dashcams subreddit on Reddit really is the place to be if you want to find great dashcam footage. The Reddit users who upload to the site post plenty of amazing pieces of footage, showing some of the worst bits of driving you can imagine.

Some of the best bits of footage show people doing things without noticing who is around them. Such as this footage uploaded by user SuLumaPlum, showing a driver trying to make an illegal pass while they are speeding in a school zone. If nobody were around, they’d be able to get away with it.

Unfortunately for this road user, there was an undercover cop driving in the same zone when they did it. And this cop wasn’t going to let them get away with performing the illegal maneuver, as just a few seconds after they pulled the pass, the cop was onto them.

Reddit users who watched the video were quite amused by the fact that a cop was in the immediate vicinity. There was nothing the driver of the car could do to avoid being caught, and it was all captured on the dashcam of a following car.

The Driver Thought He’d Get Away With the Illegal Pass

One Reddit user described the footage as “glorious,” and it’s easy to see why. In the video, we can see a car in front of us pull to the left as it enters a school zone, and it starts to speed past the cars around it. The sign above the road clearly indicates to go at 20mph if the light is flashing.

Another sign states that speeding fines are doubled due to it being a school zone. The left lane isn’t for overtaking, but for cars to go left and turn onto the highway going in the opposite direction. But this car doesn’t see it like that. Instead, they speed up and attempt to overtake the cars to their right ot get in front of them before the next set of traffic lights. Quite clearly, they are doing more than 20mph.

A black sedan appears in front of us as the car goes to the left. This is the undercover cop car. They watch the driver go to the left at speed, fail to turn left, and then jump right in front of the SUV in front of them. Clearly, at that point, the driver of the police car had seen enough. The next second, the lights are flashing, and the cop car speeds towards them to pull them over before they get to the next set of traffic lights. As the Reddit user said, it is quite a glorious spectacle.

Reddit Users Loved Watching the Cop Pull the Car Over

As we get to the end of the footage, we can see the cop car pulled over to the left with the culprit parked in front of them. A hefty fine is clearly coming that way for drivers, as well as a stern telling-off by the police officer. Naturally, Reddit users loved what they were seeing. “Y’know, there are many times when I think, “Why is there never a cop when you need them?” And then I see a video like this, and it is a balm for my weary soul. Thanks for the post, OP,” said one of them.

“Right place, right time, and right cop. Too often I’ve seen dangerous driving right in front of a marked cruiser, and the cop just keeps driving,” added another user. “That is going to be an expensive fine, plus an almost guaranteed big insurance rate hike! Well-deserved!” said one, while another said, “What a goof, thinking they’re slick. But you don’t see this kind of karma every day.”
