Dashcam footage often reveals the worst kind of driving imaginable. Just take a look at the r/dashcams subreddit on Reddit for some truly outrageous moments from some of the world’s worst drivers. Such as this one that was uploaded to the site by NervousDisasteer.

The video is captioned “Lady didn’t think she ran the red, until I mentioned my dashcam,” and it shows us on board the user’s car as we turn left at a set of traffic lights. It all looks quite normal, with the lights on green and the driver proceeding at a normal pace.

Suddenly, a silver sedan just shoots out from the right-hand side directly in front of us, and it doesn’t appear to have noticed it is in the way of the turning traffic. As you would expect, the driver of the dashcam vehicle isn’t happy.

The two cars collide, and there is some honking of horns and a few expletives as well. At the time of writing, the video has 7,600 upvotes on Reddit and 257 comments, meaning it’s prompted quite a lively discussion. The footage shows just how important it is to have a dashcam in your car.

The Silver Sedan Just Drives Right in Front of the Dashcam Car

The car we are riding in and the SUV in front turn to the left with the light ahead on green. As we turn, we can see that the traffic lights on the right are clearly on red, so there is no reason to expect another car coming from the opposite direction. Yet somehow, that is exactly what we have as a sedan just appears out of nowhere.

There is clearly a moment where the driver of the dashcam vehicle can’t quite comprehend what he is seeing. The driver blasts the horn, but it is too late, as the sedan has already hit us at that point. The car jolts and moves around, and we hear a few expletives from the dashcam vehicle driver as he tries to figure out what on Earth has just happened.

In front of us, the sedan slows down and appears to pull over to the right, as do we, to talk about what had just happened. It wasn’t a massive crash at very high speed, but there could be damage that we can’t see from the video. The original poster stated in the caption that the lady driving the sedan claimed she didn’t think she had run a red light. That was until the original poster mentioned the dashcam they had in their vehicle.

What Did Reddit Users Say About the Accident?

There was quite a heated discussion about the incident in the subreddit. “Toronto is full of horrible drivers – add this woman to the list,” said one user, clearly making their feelings felt. “Where did that car even come from? They are literally nowhere to be seen in the video and then suddenly appear in frame. I scrubbed back and forth at the time when they appear multiple times, and I just can’t figure it out lol,” said another, who was bemused at where the silver sedan had sprung from.

Some users debated whether the dashcam footage owner should have mentioned the camera. “In the end, OP’s dashcam breaks all lies in this specific instance, but as a general rule of thumb it’s best to keep legal evidence close to the vest until discovery is requested,” said one. Whatever the case, the footage does prove that the sedan ran a red light and ended up colliding with a car going through a green light. So there isn’t anything to hide.
