A woman has taken to TikTok to say that her boyfriend, who paid $50 for a replacement tire after a nail ruined the old one, found that it had gone flat within just a few hours, with the car parked and stationary. That led the boyfriend to believe that the shop had sabotaged the replacement tire before selling it to him.

TikTok user Giszelle (@its.giszelle) has even gone as far as to say that the tire place that her boyfriend went to actually scammed him. She also felt that they refused a refund and potentially sabotaged them when it turned out that the replacement tire was actually the wrong size for their car.

“SCAMMER TIRE PLACE WARNING!!!” says the text on the video that Giszelle posted. Her caption also urged anyone watching the video to leave a bad review for the tire shop, due to their refusal to refund her boyfriend. As he had paid in cash for it, there was no receipt for the tire.

Giszelle discussed the story in her video and what happened after they managed to convince the shop to put a replacement tire on the car. Eventually, they managed to replace the tire with one that didn’t puncture straight away, but the couple was left frustrated.

How the Original Tire Got a Puncture

Giszelle said that a nail had gone into the side of the original tire, in a part where you couldn’t really patch it up. She and her boyfriend rang around several shops to get a quote for a new tire, with one quoting them $200 for a brand new tire. After calling around for used tires, one place offered them a used tire for $50, although it was cash only.

Giszelle’s boyfriend went to get the cash out of an ATM and went to get the tire and pay them. The tire pressure monitor on the car was still warning of low pressure, but he just reset it and then went to spend a day out with a friend. You can imagine Giszelle’s shock when she got a phone call from her boyfriend, where he said, “I have a [expletive] flat,” and as you can imagine, he really wasn’t happy.

They called AAA, who put the spare tire on the car. But after driving the car back to the shop, they tried to blame Giszelle’s boyfriend. “He tried to claim that it was my boyfriend who punctured it,” she said, and eventually they relented and replaced the tire, but warned that if it happened again, the couple would have to pay.

You might have thought that was the end of the ordeal, but sadly for this couple, it really wasn’t.

They Had To Get Another Replacement Tire

It turned out that they had put the wrong tire size on the car. The shop claimed they had asked for that size. “I noticed that all your other three tires were a different size than the one that you asked for, but I just listened to the customer,” the shop allegedly said.

The shop refused to take the tire back for a refund and then fit the correct tire, so in the end, the couple found another tire at another shop for $80, which thankfully seemed to resolve the situation.

You could easily argue that they should have just bought a new tire for the car. Used tires come with risk, since you don’t necessarily know whether they will last long or have a problem the shop didn’t tell you about. However, if you need a tire fast and can’t afford $200+, a used tire might be your only option to get back on the road.
