A woman has taken to the social media site TikTok to express her frustration and annoyance with a Genesis that she leased. TikTok user Sam (@_samsstoryy_) shared how the luxury car seems to be racking up crazy repair and maintenance bills.

Sam isn’t afraid to share her frustration and expressed annoyance that while she had a warranty and a lease, the repairs and work didn’t seem to be covered. “If I’m already leasing the vehicle, [why] am I having to pay like completely out of pocket for everything?” she asked.

As the video goes on, Sam explained what had been going wrong with the car and why she had become so annoyed. It turned out the problems began after she took the car to a gas station, only for the dashboard to say that the car was empty even after she had refilled it.

That left her suspecting a sensor issue, but she didn’t want to drive around not knowing how much fuel was in the car. It was after this that the problems began to get worse, and her frustration slowly but surely increased as the car became more problematic.

Sam Became Very Annoyed With the Genesis

Sam wasn’t willing to drive the Genesis, not knowing how much fuel was in the tank, so she decided to try to get it fixed. “Sure, you can kind of guesstimate, but like, I don’t want to play that game,” she said. However, the dealership couldn’t find a problem with the car, so that left Sam having to track the mileage she was doing between each fill-up. Yet they told her that she should get a tire rotation and front-end alignment.

But the rotation alone would have cost her $200. Sam questioned why it wasn’t covered under her lease terms, and the service provider said Genesis had recently stopped offering complimentary maintenance. “This just doesn’t seem really like a luxurious experience,” said Sam. Yet according to the company’s website, new Genesis vehicles have complimentary scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles, depending on which comes first. That coverage does include tire rotations and oil changes.

While we don’t know the exact model of Genesis that Sam was driving, it is easy to see why she was so annoyed. The service provider’s claim that Genesis has just blanked out complimentary work on their cars doesn’t tally with what we can see on their website. The $200 tire rotation cost also seemed quite large, as Consumer Reports says a typical rotation normally costs around $60. So that feels like quite an inflation over what Sam would have expected to pay.

Not Every Lease Service Will Be Free

It must be stressed, however, that a lease agreement doesn’t mean every service on a car is free. Yet Genesis does offer a five-year/60,000 mile new vehicle limited warranty. So if there is a potential issue with the fuel gauge sensor, then that should really qualify for a repair. Especially if the car that Sam is leasing is newer than that, and potentially not even three years old. Sadly, she didn’t say what model it was in her video.

Some who watched the TikTok video questioned how old the car was. “If your Genesis is a newer model, it includes 3 years of maintenance, which does include tire rotation. How old is the car?” one said. A Volvo owner said, “Volvo would never have me leaving with the gas gauge not working on a new vehicle. However, tire rotation is regular maintenance, and I do pay for that.” Hopefully Sam was able to find a solution and get the car fixed without too much stress.
