If you are trying to change lanes on a highway or interstate in your car or pickup truck, do a few things. Firstly, check your mirrors to make sure no one is alongside you. Secondly, be sure to pull out safely. And thirdly, if you don’t care about either of those things, at least make sure there is no police car nearby.

Sadly for this pickup truck driver, they seemingly didn’t care about those first two things, and they also got caught on dashcam nearly causing an accident. User stoicladi uploaded the footage to Reddit in the r/dashcams subreddit.

In the video, we’re in a car minding its own business on the highway when the truck to its left suddenly decides it wants to cut into its lane.

In the video, we hear the dashcam car honk, with plenty of shouting from the driver as the truck just keeps moving over him without a care in the world. That could have been the end of it, but sadly for this truck driver, the police car following behind had other ideas.

The Truck Driver Forced His Way Into the Other Lane

What makes this such an egregious offense is that the truck driver almost certainly saw the car to his right. The dashcam vehicle is almost fully alongside the truck, and even after he sounds his horn, the pickup continues to force its way into the lane that the dashcam car is occupying. The driver makes no effort to correct his mistake.

Eventually, the dashcam driver is forced to slam on the brakes to avoid being hit. “Whoa!” we hear the dashcam car driver shout, then “what the [expletive]” as the truck forces its way into the lane. It is a pretty poor display of driving, and there is no excuse for what the pickup did. But in this instance, it seems karma came to them instantly.

As the truck pulls away, a police car emerges to the left of the dashcam car. After a few seconds, the cop decides to intervene and pulls up behind the truck with his blue and red lights flashing, clearly getting ready to pull the truck over for dangerous driving. The caption of the video reads “gets instant karma,” and that is exactly what we can see in the video. As the video ends, the cop pulls the truck over to the right-hand side of the road.

Reddit Users Applauded the Instant Karma

Some fun comments appeared below the video on Reddit. “I mean, technically he didn’t try to change lanes; he DID change lanes. Just poorly & illegally,” said the top comment. “Lane change with no signal will get you pulled over every time,” said another user further down. “Changing lanes without signaling or checking properly is still dangerous. It’s not just about technically changing lanes; it’s about doing it safely and legally,” added another.

The comments keep flowing as you scroll down the Reddit thread. “Guaranteed he had absolutely no idea why he was being stopped,” said one amusingly. “Surprised to see a pickup truck getting pulled over. Honestly doesn’t happen as often as it should,” added another Reddit user. It is very satisfying to see somebody getting punished for such a driving offense. That could have ended badly for both vehicles.
