Remarkable dashcam footage from a Tesla shows a Zoox Robotaxi involved in a collision at a set of traffic lights. Amazon’s autonomous driving subsidiary, Zoox Inc., developed the autonomous vehicle, and the service began in Las Vegas in 2025.
Wham Baam Teslacam shared on X by Wham Baam Teslacam, filmed from the dashcam inside a Tesla EV. In the video, we see the Zoox suddenly slow down and stop before an SUV appears and crashes into the back of the robotaxi.
The video suggested the taxi was stopping to yield to an ambulance, which appeared on the right with its lights flashing. The taxi’s stop was quite sudden; however, the video suggests the SUV driver had enough time to slow down and prevent the accident.
Unsurprisingly, the video sparked plenty of discussion in the comments section, which had 1.4 million views at the time of writing. While some may still worry about autonomous vehicles, in this instance, you could argue the Zoox Robotaxi wasn’t at fault.
This Is What the Tesla Dashcam Footage Shows Us

In the video, we ride in a Tesla as we approach a set of traffic lights. As we pull up to the lights, a couple of Zoox Robotaxis appear and cross in front of us, flowing right through the traffic as you would expect. The footage then changes to show the vehicles off to the left, including another couple of taxis.
Suddenly, another taxi emerges and quickly comes to a stop in front of the traffic behind. However, it isn’t the most sudden stop, and there is a reasonable gap behind the Zoox. Yet that didn’t stop a white SUV from coming right up behind it and crashing into the back of the Zoox. It wasn’t a massive impact, but it was enough of a shunt that neither car was going anywhere.
The ambulance can then be seen off to the right, having witnessed everything. The narrator in the video said the ambulance went to check on everyone involved in the accident. At first glance, you might think the robotaxi was at fault. It’s easy to blame the autonomous car, especially since many people are still nervous about the technology. But while it did come to a quick stop, the vehicle might not be at fault in this particular accident.
Was the SUV Really To Blame?

The taxi stops with a reasonable distance behind it from the SUV. It also doesn’t come to a dead stop; the vehicle slows slightly and gradually before stopping. However, the SUV appears not to slow down even a tiny bit before it then slams into the back of the Zoox. In this case, you could easily blame the SUV driver, as it doesn’t look like they paid attention to the car in front and failed to notice it was stopping.
Many users on X who watched the video agreed. “That SUV driver had 7 business days to start braking haha,” said the top comment on the video. “One thing that is interesting is that while the Zoox stops, not a single human driver does… not even when they see the ambulance…” said another user.
A few did blame the Zoox for how it stopped, but far more people were split on what was at fault than you might have expected.
