There’s bad luck, and there’s luck that’s bad because you paved the way for things to be that way. This video of a truck basically backing into the ocean while the driver was nowhere to be seen feels like the latter.
The hilarious video takes place on a boat ramp in an undisclosed location and shows both the truck slowly sinking further and further and the driver freaking out about it more and more. Fortunately, it doesn’t seem like anyone was injured as a result of the incident.
Well, maybe the truck driver’s ego was a little wounded afterwards. Judging by some of the comments left behind by other TikTok viewers, I’m not sure if I’d be able to mentally recover from this either.
While the video is funny to watch, it also serves as a reminder to be sure your car is in park before you leave it unattended. Or, at the least, make sure the parking brake is on.
The Driver Makes a Desperate Swim To Save His Truck

The brief video shows a white truck slowly plunging backwards down a boat ramp this past Fourth of July weekend. There’s a boat right next to the truck as it sinks further and further.
So, I believe that the boat was attached to the trailer hitch of the truck, and it slowly went deeper and deeper into the water, taking the truck with it before anyone had the chance to unhitch it. As the person who was recording the video zooms in, you can see the driver valiantly run and then swim towards the driver’s side door of the truck.
When he reaches it, he climbs inside through the open window and seats himself. It looks like he then tries to drive himself out of the water, but the clip cuts off there.
Commenters Had Absolutely No Mercy
Commenters made some pretty funny jokes at the driver’s expense, with one of the very top comments reading, “Bro jumps in the truck like he’s just gonna drive it back to the ramp 😂😂😂.” Similarly, another person wrote, “Now he has 2 boats.”
Personally, my favorite comment is, “Did he really think the truck’s going to drive back to shore? The thing was already floating 😭.”
There are no follow-up videos concerning the truck, so it’s unclear if it was able to be retrieved from the water and, if so, what damage it sustained. I’d like to think that the driver won’t be heading to the marina with that boat or truck anytime soon. It pays to be careful on the Fourth of July weekend, literally.
