A Palm Beach County sheriff’s sergeant walked into a Dunkin for coffee on July 22 and found an employee trying to get a customer out of the store.

The customer, later identified as Delilah Alexander, initially walked outside before turning around and going back in. Bodycam footage published by Body Cam USA shows the sergeant learning from staff that Alexander had previously been trespassed from the business and that they wanted her to leave.

Alexander eventually went back outside, but the encounter did not end at the door. She continued walking as the sergeant followed her away from the business, repeatedly telling her to leave the property and asking for her name.

Another deputy arrived minutes later. What had started as a coffee stop soon turned into a struggle in the parking lot, with spilled coffee, a Taser deployment and Alexander on the ground.

The footage shows the sergeant following Alexander as she walked away from Dunkin and toward a neighboring parking lot. Alexander repeatedly told the sergeant to stop following her, while the sergeant told her she was making sure she got off the property.

The sergeant radioed that they had crossed into the Golden Corral parking lot. After the second deputy arrived, the deputies told Alexander to put down the bags and other items she was carrying.

When they moved to detain her, Alexander pulled away and resisted efforts to place her in handcuffs. Coffee spilled during the struggle.

The sergeant later told another deputy that Alexander had been holding the coffee while resisting and that she believed Alexander may have moved to throw it after pushing away. She also said reviewing the other deputy’s body camera would provide a better view of what happened.

The sergeant moved away and called for the deputy to deploy his Taser. Alexander went to the ground, and the deputies handcuffed her.

After The Taser

Fire Rescue evaluated Alexander at the scene. The bodycam shows paramedics speaking with her and conducting a medical assessment before deputies prepared to transport her.

A booking record republished by PalmBeachCountyBusts identifies the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office as the arresting agency and lists charges of resisting an officer without violence and trespassing in an occupied structure or conveyance.

Body Cam USA said Alexander spent at least one night in jail before receiving release on recognizance. The channel also said court records showed the charges were later amended and that Alexander entered a plea-and-pass agreement, pleading guilty to both counts while leaving sentencing for a later hearing.

GH was unable to independently obtain the court record underlying that reported disposition.
