Porsche Just Introduced Its Most Powerful Car, Ever — And It’s Not What You Think

When people think of Porsche’s most powerful vehicle ever, they usually picture something low, loud, and built for the racetrack.

Maybe a Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

Maybe a Porsche Taycan Turbo GT.

They’re wrong, though, as Porsche just shocked everyone by giving that title to an electric SUV coupe.

Meet The Cayenne Coupe Electric

Porsche has officially revealed the new Porsche Cayenne Coupe Electric.

It’s essentially a sleeker version of the standard Cayenne Electric SUV, but with a more aggressive roofline and improved aerodynamics.

From the A-pillar backward, the entire roof design is different.

The Coupe sits lower than the regular SUV and has a drag coefficient of just 0.23.

That actually makes it more aerodynamic than the standard Cayenne Electric.

It Makes An Absurd Amount Of Power

This is where things get wild.

The range-topping Turbo model produces up to 1,156 horsepower in overboost mode.

That officially makes it the most powerful production Porsche ever built.

It can sprint from 0-62 MPH in roughly 2.5 seconds.

That’s supercar territory from a family SUV.

Charging Is Seriously Fast

The Cayenne Coupe Electric rides on an 800-volt architecture.

That allows charging speeds of up to 400 kW.

Porsche says it can charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 16 minutes.

The improved aerodynamics also help boost range slightly compared to the standard SUV.

Porsche claims buyers could see around nine extra miles of range.

You Do Lose Some Practicality

That sloping roofline comes with compromises.

The Coupe loses around nine cubic feet of cargo space compared to the regular Cayenne Electric SUV.

Bulky cargo may be harder to fit in the rear.

Still, rear passenger space remains surprisingly usable, and taller passengers should still fit comfortably.

It’s Coming Soon

The Porsche Cayenne Coupe Electric will go on sale later this year.

European pricing starts at roughly €110,000 for the base model.

The Turbo version starts at around €168,000.

U.S. pricing hasn’t been announced yet.

Love it or hate it, Porsche clearly believes fast electric SUVs are the future.
