Police Goose in the Making: Gosling Appears to “Help” Ohio Police Arrest a Suspect

Ohio Police Arrested a Suspect, but a Gosling Stole the Show

The officers over at the Kettering Police Department in Ohio posted to Facebook recently about a police chase that ended with a gosling following them around all the way through the arrest. Not every case has to end on a negative note!

A video that details the events that occurred on June 5, 2026, at 11:30 pm, shows a baby goose showing up as a second heat signature in a wooded area while police were searching for a suspect who fled. When the officers apprehended the suspect, they turned to the second potential suspect only to find the small goose.

What’s even funnier is that the police still have no idea whose side the animal was on: the police or the suspect. It didn’t leave their side throughout the entire arrest, even after officers left the scene.

Fortunately, the gosling was brought back to what the post describes as “his mom.” As any parent would do to a child gone missing, the “gosling appeared to receive a scolding from his mom.”

Suspect Forgot About One Important Piece of Equipment

The Kettering Police Department only recently posted the video, which has since gone viral on Facebook. Over the video, the first set of text reads, “On June 5, 2026 at 11:30pm, KPD Dispatch received information from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office regarding a suspect who had fled on foot from a Domestic Violence and Felony Strangulation incident near Sommerset Path and Walden Way, adjacent to the City of Kettering.”

The two counties are about thirty minutes apart from one another, according to MapQuest. Interestingly, when the suspect decided to set off on foot, he ended up running into a wooded area.

This was likely so that he wouldn’t get caught as quickly. However, he likely didn’t account for the night vision device that one of the officers had on him.

The Suspect Wasn’t the Only One Officers Found That Night

While searching through the area with the night vision device, a heat signature was captured, allowing the officers to get a better idea of exactly where the suspect was. It was the second heat signature directly to the left of the suspect that I doubt officers had even considered.

When the officers directed the suspect to get down on the ground so that they could handcuff him, that’s when they noticed the gosling. Throughout the entire time that the officer was handcuffing the suspect, you could hear the gosling honking loudly, even causing the arresting officer to chuckle.

It even followed them for the rest of the investigation, with more text on the video reading, “We are not sure who he was trying to help, us or the suspect, but he insisted on accompanying the officers for the remainder of the investigation.” The officers were even forced to shoo it away at some points, hoping it would go back home so that they could finish.”

Commenters Couldn’t Stop Joking About KPD’s New Recruit

Commenters found this situation just as funny as the Kettering Police Department did, with one of the very top comments reading, “I think I see a police goose in the future for KPD.” Another top comment just reiterates the best moment of the video: when they acknowledged that their wildlife relocation skills aren’t to be recommended.

The comment itself reads, “Not an approved wildlife relocation strategy 🤣🤣🤣.” Another funny comment read, “Lil fella changed his mind about living in them Kettering streets 🤣 Never leave your Mama’s side🤣.”

Even though the video was originally filmed on June 5, 2026, it was only just posted online, sparking the viral moment. Hopefully, the goose comes back to help out the next time officers are in his neighborhood, making another arrest.
