Police raids connected to major drug investigations often uncover cash, weapons, and other assets tied to criminal activity. In Pennsylvania, however, investigators recently stumbled upon something that looked more like a specialty car show than an evidence seizure.
Authorities announced the confiscation of more than 20 vehicles allegedly connected to a North Philadelphia drug-trafficking organization known as the “5th & Cornwall” crew. The collection included everything from classic sports cars and Japanese performance machines to exotic replicas and heavily modified custom builds.
The seizure is part of an ongoing investigation led by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. Prosecutors allege the vehicles were purchased using proceeds generated through a large-scale cocaine and crack cocaine trafficking operation.
While the criminal case remains active and the allegations have yet to be proven in court, the unusual collection of vehicles has attracted attention far beyond the legal proceedings themselves.
Investigation Continues After Major 2025 Arrests
The latest vehicle seizures stem from a broader investigation that first became public in September 2025. At that time, authorities announced charges against more than two dozen individuals allegedly connected to the organization.
Among those charged were Jimmie Torres, whom investigators identified as the alleged leader of the operation, and his son Matthew Torres. According to prosecutors, the organization operated primarily in North Philadelphia and derived its nickname from the area around Fifth Street and Cornwall Street.
Officials say the investigation has remained active despite the earlier arrests. As authorities continued monitoring activities connected to the group, they allegedly uncovered additional evidence linking a number of vehicles to drug-trafficking proceeds.
That intelligence eventually led investigators to a property on North 3rd Street in Philadelphia, where many of the vehicles were located and subsequently seized.
A Collection That Reads Like A Car Show Lineup
What makes this seizure stand out is the sheer variety of enthusiast vehicles involved. Rather than a fleet of ordinary luxury sedans, authorities uncovered a collection filled with cars that would draw crowds at almost any automotive gathering.
One of the most notable vehicles was a twin-turbocharged 1988 Ferrari Testarossa. The iconic Italian exotic is already a rare sight, and the addition of a twin-turbo setup made it one of the most attention-grabbing cars in the collection.
Investigators also seized multiple Mazda RX-7s, an Acura NSX, a Porsche 911, and a 2017 Shelby Cobra Backdraft Roadster. The mix of Japanese performance cars, European sports cars, and American-inspired classics reflected an unusually broad range of enthusiast tastes.
Other vehicles included a yellow Austin-Healey Sprite and a 2004 Beck Porsche Speedster replica. While neither offers the headline-grabbing performance of a Ferrari or NSX, both have become popular among collectors and enthusiasts seeking unique driving experiences.
The Tow Truck May Be The Most Unusual Vehicle
Among all the seized vehicles, one machine stood out for entirely different reasons. Authorities highlighted a heavily modified tow truck powered by an LS-based engine and fitted with twin turbochargers protruding through the fenders.
State officials even compared the build to something that might appear in a Fast & Furious movie. That description may not be far off, given the truck’s extreme modifications and highly customized appearance.
Another unusual addition was a Mitsubishi Legnum wagon, a model rarely seen in the United States. Imported performance wagons have developed a dedicated following among enthusiasts, making the Legnum one of the more unexpected discoveries in the collection.
Taken together, the vehicles represented an eclectic mix that would be difficult to assemble intentionally, let alone discover during a criminal investigation.
Forfeiture Proceedings Are The Next Step
For now, the vehicles remain in government custody as evidence. Pennsylvania authorities intend to pursue forfeiture proceedings in an effort to establish that the cars were purchased using proceeds from illegal drug trafficking activities.
If successful, the state could permanently take ownership of the vehicles. The outcome will ultimately depend on the legal process and whether prosecutors can prove the assets were directly connected to criminal activity.
The investigation has already resulted in charges against 32 individuals, and authorities indicate additional work remains ongoing. Law enforcement officials continue to examine the financial and operational structure of the alleged trafficking organization.
