An Oklahoma man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly pulled a handgun on a woman and her dog after confronting her over an electrical outlet outside a convenience store.
The Tulsa Police Department said on Oct. 7, officers responded to the Stop-N-Save convenience store at 152 N. Garnett Road after receiving a call about a man pointing a deadly weapon.
It all apparently started when the woman tried to use an outdoor electrical outlet at the store. That’s when 48-year-old Kevin Dwayne Jamison confronted her and told her she wasn’t allowed to use the outlet. Jamison was not a store employee.
In an attempt to remove herself from the confrontation, the woman walked to the southeast side of the convenience store with her dog. Jamison still ended up following her, and that’s when things escalated.
Pulling a Gun on a Dog
Tulsa police say surveillance footage captured Jamison following the woman while carrying a black pouch. The woman’s dog started barking, and that’s when Jamison allegedly pulled a handgun from the pouch and pointed it at the dog.
“I’ll shoot you and your dog,” Jamison reportedly told the woman.
Jamison also threatened the woman’s boyfriend, telling him he had better “get his girl” before he shot her.
Minutes later, officers arrived at the scene, and police say Jamison quickly placed the black pouch on top of an outdoor ice box in front of the store.
Officers confronted Jamison and checked the pouch. Inside, police say they found a rusty, unloaded Rock Island 1911 .45-caliber semiautomatic pistol and a fully loaded eight-round magazine next to it.
Police Find More
Tulsa police then searched Jamison and found a baggie of marijuana and a green container holding 28 ecstasy pills in his right shorts pocket.
Jamison was then placed under arrest. According to police, during transport and questioning, Jamison admitted that the marijuana and ecstasy belonged to him, but he denied owning the handgun.
The Charges
Booking information shows Jamison was booked into the Tulsa County Jail on Oct. 7. The record lists charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, threatening an act of violence, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of medical marijuana without a card. A hold for Creek County was also listed in the booking record.
His listed bond for the assault with a dangerous weapon charge was $30,000. The booking record also lists several traffic-related charges, including speeding and driving without a valid license. The traffic charges carry a total bond of $1,122. Police also stated that Jamison had warrants from Tulsa County.
Jamison is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
