It can sometimes be stressful to take a car to an auto repair shop for some work. Even if you only go for something like an oil change, you never know what might come up. That is exactly what one man found after taking his car for an oil change, only to need to pay for a tow truck.

In a video posted on TikTok, user @tbanzzzz03 took his car to a garage for a simple oil change. That should have been routine, and likely would have cost $50 according to the video. But they managed to share CCTV footage from the garage it was taken to, which led to an unfortunate incident.

After this, they claimed that they now needed to pay around $375 to get the car towed, and it is possible that there is some other damage that will need fixing, given what appears to be a serious incident.

The video had been viewed over 53,000 times at the time of writing. It was clearly an unfortunate incident, and what happened on the video was an accident. But that won’t make it any less stressful for the owner of the car.

What Actually Happened at the Garage?

The video starts with the car being shown into the garage where the oil change is taking place. In the video, we can see the car being driven over a pit, where it needs to be for the work to be carried out. All of a sudden, after being carefully maneuvered, the driver of the car hits the gas, and the car goes straight in.

The employee doing hand signals runs off in a panic, and instead of going over the pit, the car goes right into the pit itself. “Came for a $50 oil change and got a $375 tow,” the TikToker said in writing across the video. We can see at the end that the car has partially sunk into the pit. Brown liquid covers the front, suggesting some significant damage has been done to the car.

A comment from the TikTok user revealed that the car ultimately did not get an oil change. They also said it left with far more wrong with the vehicle than when they had first arrived. Incredibly, the video showed the second attempt at entering the garage. “No oil change for him and still had to pay 300 plus for a tow and drove away leaking all kinds of fluids,” the TikTok user posted. The question is, who was at fault?

Some Commenters Blamed the Worker in the Video

The video, as you may expect, led to a bit of debate amongst those who had been watching it. Some of them blamed the incident on the worker who had been issuing hand signals to the driver. “Clear hand signals, buddy,” said one of them. “Poor hand signals root cause,” said another viewer.

Others said that the driver may have ignored the hand signals and gone into the pit themselves. Thankfully, incidents like this don’t happen a lot. The easiest way to avoid falling into a pit is to take your time and watch the garage worker as they guide you in. Either way, seeing a video like that might give some people a bit of anxiety about their next garage visit.
