After a twist of fate, a vehicle that was sold by a father made its way back to the driveway of his family years after he passed away from cancer. The heartwarming story only gets better, as it starts in Michigan and ends in Massachusetts.
Darcy Jeneary and her son, Aaron, shared the news with those at Click On Detroit about how the 1978 Pontiac Trans Am came back into their lives over a decade after it had been sold. Apparently, it was meant to be found as the same blue and black decals appear to still be on the vehicle.
In an interview with the news station, Aaron had explained that he wanted to purchase the vehicle, or one like it, for his father’s 60th birthday. However, he passed away at the age of 55.
Determined to keep his promise, Aaron posted a picture of the car on Facebook and was surprised to discover that its new owner wasn’t that far away. What was even more heartwarming was the fact that the new owner didn’t even have it for sale.
A Facebook Post Turned Into the Ultimate Father’s Day Surprise
After a long, nine-year battle with cancer, Mike Jeneary was unable to get the car back himself, leaving his father and son to be the one to do the job. Fortunately, a Massachusetts man saw Aaron’s post and was willing to lend a helping hand.
The hand ended up being more helpful than the family could imagine, since he hadn’t even intended to sell it in the first place. However, after hearing the story for himself, he knew that the Trans Am had to go back to its rightful family.
What was even better was that the car had been upgraded under the hood since it left the Jeneary’s driveway. Now, it runs better than ever before, according to Aaron. Besides the transmission, as stated by Aaron, it wasn’t clear exactly what sort of upgrades and additions were made.
A Little Faith, a Lot of Love, and One Very Special Road Trip
Concerning the fact that the family was able to find the same car in the first place, Darcy Jeneary, Mike’s wife and Aaron’s mother, said, “It just kind of restores your faith in humanity. You know, people are good.”
She even goes on to say, “I feel like God and Mike worked and had a little plan together to get the car back to us.” To make good on their promise, the Jeneary men made a Father’s Day weekend out of the trip and went out to get the car, which was sitting in a gorgeous barn-style garage. He even posted a picture of the inside of the garage on his personal Facebook.
Now that it’s back in Aaron’s hands, he hopes to be able to keep it in the family, likely to be able to pass onto his own children someday.
