A woman has taken to TikTok and said that even if you are able to afford a Porsche Cayenne SUV, the price of gas can still be a problem, as bills continue to rise higher and higher. However, she was still shocked to see how much it cost to fill one up.
While it might be that you have the income to own and drive a luxury vehicle, it doesn’t mean it’s less painful watching the price of gas shoot up. But TikTok user Rebecca Martinez (@rebeccamartinezz_) felt that even if you have a luxury car, gas prices can still cause a shock.
Her video has been viewed nearly 300,000 times, and it shows her heading over to Costco to fill up her new Porsche Cayenne for one of the first times. However, as her Porsche needs premium fuel, it is here that she begins to have her doubts, even with her membership package.
“I’m officially a Costco member, so I need 93 (octane), and it’s $4.29 (per gallon). I don’t know, you guys, this seems way more expensive,” she said. Soon after, she arrives at Costco, and it is there that she gets a bit of a shock as she watches the gas bill go up and up as she refills the SUV.

Having already had her patience tested by the crowded gas station, she wasn’t in the best of moods when she reached the pump. The doubts she had were still present when the fuel started flowing, and then she saw the fuel total climb close to the $100 mark, leaving her frustrated and quite shocked at how much the gasoline had cost. “This is a madhouse,” she said.
“Everyone has said go to Costco, go to Costco, go to Costco. I’m at Costco, I’m trying it, but I don’t know; I’m skeptical right now, I’m not gonna lie,” she added. The total for her fuel approached $45 at 10 gallons, and at 20 gallons it was about $90. Her pump clicked off at 21 gallons, leaving Martinez with a $90.81 fuel bill for her Porsche Cayenne. Incredibly, that was one of the cheaper fill-ups Martinez has had since she got the Porsche.
Porsche says that the standard 2026 Cayenne Coupe has a 23.7-gallon fuel tank, so Martinez was nearly on empty when she arrived at the gas station. Porsche also recommends premium unleaded fuel, and anything with premium in it is going to hike the price up somewhat. It isn’t the best car to advertise fuel economy with either. It has a 17mpg rating in the city, and just 23 mpg on the highway. A lot of cars can do better than that.
The Price of Gasoline Can Really Sting
In the comments section, one user wrote: “BTW, if you can afford a Porsche, the cost of gasoline should not be a big deal.” That led to quite a pushback from viewers, particularly as Martinez herself had never said that she couldn’t afford to fill up the Porsche. In fact, someone argued that even if you have the money, it doesn’t make it sting any less. You don’t want to have to spend that much on filling up your car.
Martinez did respond to a similar comment. “Literally never complained ONCE,” she said in a reply on her video. What helped Martinez was her Costco membership, which helped her save a few dollars on the cost of refuelling the Porsche. Being frugal and saving as much money as possible is something all of us want to do. So just because you can drive around in a Porsche, it doesn’t mean you want to spend every penny you have to keep it on the move.
