There are some pretty poor drivers out on the roads. It can sometimes feel as if driving standards are getting worse; dashcam footage can provide proof of just how bad some people’s driving is. Such as this footage showing a Tesla making an incredibly poor decision at some traffic lights.

The footage was uploaded to the r/dashcams subreddit by Reddit user RuthBrim. It is captioned “Car takes a left turn from the right lane,” and that gives you an idea of what has happened. If you thought it would be really bad, then you’d be absolutely right.

In the video, we are riding on board with a car waiting at traffic lights. A Kia is in front of us, and there is a Tesla in the lane to their right. Our lights are red, but soon they turn green, and traffic begins to move forward. Logic would dictate that, being in the right lane, the Tesla would have to go right or straight ahead.

But this Tesla driver thought they could turn left quicker than the traffic released the other way could get to the middle of the intersection. It is little wonder that there was a collision.

The Tesla Pulled Away Very Aggressively

The second the lights go green, the Tesla shoots off into the intersection, with the Kia in front of us, waiting to turn left, taking its time. The Tesla driver then pulls hard to the left, trying to get in front of both the Kia and beat the traffic coming the other way.

Through the Kia’s windshield, we can see that the Tesla first cuts off a car coming straight ahead from the other side of the intersection. Not content with that, the Tesla then tries to cut in front of a white SUV in the far-left lane that appears to be turning right. It is perhaps inevitable that the Tesla slams hard into the white SUV, setting off the EV’s airbag in quite a dramatic piece of footage.

The camera then zooms in to show us the aftermath of the accident. We can see front-end damage to the white SUV, although it appears the Tesla bore the brunt of the impact. We can’t see or hear the driver’s reaction, but we can only imagine the SUV driver shouting a few expletives in genuine disbelief at what happened. Fellow users on Reddit certainly made their feelings known about the accident in the comments section.

The Tesla Driver Was Offered No Sympathy by Reddit Users

The top comment on the video pulled no punches regarding the accident and the Tesla driver. “I hope he enjoyed that airbag punch,” the user said. The reply to that comment was simply “lol, how did he get his driver’s license?” There is no way around it; the Tesla driver was being absolutely roasted in the comments section. “The Tesla probably autopiloted his driver’s test for him,” said another of the top comments.

“If you mail in 20 of those box tops from those cereal boxes, they mail you a driver’s license,” said another, who really wasn’t pulling any punches. It is difficult to offer anything but sympathy for the white SUV driver in this incident. They were just trying to cross the intersection and carry on with their day, and it would appear there was very little they could do to avoid the Tesla charging towards them. We hope that the Tesla driver will think twice about doing something like that again in the future.

If they are still allowed to drive, that is.
