Two drivers were seen crashing through a Miami-Dade Richmond Heights home on June 1, with one hitting the building and leaving behind a hole. The entire crash was caught on the doorbell camera that was mounted next to the front door.

According to the footage, the vehicles involved were a red minivan and a grey four-door sedan. Everyone who lived inside the home was present at the time of the incident, and one even claimed to be nearly 16 inches away from the destruction.

Because of the damage sustained from the incident, the home was deemed unsafe to live in for the time being, bearing a temporary wooden cover over the hole. The home’s front yard fence was also destroyed in the crash, leaving behind pieces of debris.

Both neighbors and the residents who live in the home quickly rushed outside to assess the damage and call the proper authorities. Four individuals involved in the crash were transported to a hospital for their injuries.

Vehicles Spin Out of Control Before Hitting Home

In the surveillance footage, you can hear one of the vehicles speeding down the road and then subsequently braking, likely to avoid the red minivan. While it has not been revealed exactly how fast the drivers were going, the force of the impact sent both vehicles off the street and towards the Richmond Heights home.

Immediately after the crash, a male from inside the red minivan can be seen getting out of the vehicle and approaching the gray car, opening its door, and shouting, “What’s wrong with you?” At the same moment, someone from inside the gray vehicle can be seen getting out and walking towards the minivan to assess the damage.

Shortly after the two drivers met behind the gray sedan, you can see that a person appears to fall out of the vehicle and onto the floor. In a different clip, this person is surrounded by two other individuals, likely as they were awaiting help to arrive.

The Homeowners Must Look For A New Place to Stay

Considering that the home was damaged as a result of the accident, the building was deemed unsafe to live in until repairs are made. Currently, the damage is estimated to be around $100,000.

When asked about this, resident Errol Gunter replied, “That is good. I’m stunned, I mean, we’ve been living here for 36 years and nothing of the sort. I haven’t seen an assident in this neighborhood, on this road, or anything like that.”

Gunter also expressed what he felt the moment the impact happened, saying, “My sister told me that she heard a big, big sound outside, and when they came out, they saw both cars.” When asked about his mother, he said, “Every time I think about how close it came to my mom, my eyes fill with water.”

What Happens Next?

According to WPLG Local 10 news, the sheriff’s office has claimed the investigation is still ongoing. As a result, it is currently unclear if anyone will be facing any charges in relation to the incident and subsequent damage.

If something like this should happen, homeowners are generally covered under their homeowners’ insurance policy for things such as temporary relocation and structural repairs. In some cases, the insurance of the at-fault driver is responsible for covering most, if not all, of these expenses.

Of the four who were injured, three were deemed to be in critical condition. Additional information has not been made available at the time of publication.
