The Honda Accord will be 50 years old in 2026, and it’s arguably one of the most well-known and most famous cars that the Japanese manufacturer has ever made. The Accord is still sold in the United States, China, and Japan, and it’s been one of the best-selling cars in America since 1989.
The Accord is now in its eleventh generation, with turbocharged and hybrid power being the options available for buyers. However, even though this generation is only three years old, it has already got some people thinking. What could the next generation look like?
After Honda showed off the next-generation hybrid sedan prototype in May 2026, it left some to wonder what it could be previewing. Some said it could lead to a Honda Crosstour revival. However, YouTuber and digital designer Theottle mused that, actually, it could be a preview of the next-generation Honda Accord.
That got him thinking about what the car might look like. So the digital designer took the prototype and an unlikely second car and decided to mesh the two together to create the next-generation Accord. We think it looks rather smart as well.
How Did the Designer Create a New Honda Accord?
There is no denying that the design Theottle has come up with is incredibly striking. The basis for the design was actually a Skoda Superb, which the YouTuber chose due to its liftback proportions and how it closely matches the Accord with its current dimensions.
The choice of the Skoda might seem like a surprise. But it gave the designer free rein without being restricted by the current Accord’s proportions. The new car had quite a striking front-end, with angular corners and a much smaller grille than on the real Accord. The Honda badge was placed above the grille, more typical of how it was on older generations of the Accord.
The car has certainly grown as well, with it looking a bit bulkier than the Skoda. At the back, the quite plain-looking rear end has been replaced with something far more aggressive and modern, with a nice LED light bar running across the rear tailgate of the new Honda. The rear quarter panels have some nice bulges integrated into them, which add to the bulked-up feel of the new design.
How Long Has the Accord Been in Production?
The Accord has been with us since the 1970s, and it has existed in various forms. Honda has produced it as a three-door hatchback, four-door sedan, two-door coupe, and a five-door station wagon. The first generation came in 1976, and buyers could get the car as a hatchback or sedan, with either a two- or three-speed automatic or a five-speed manual transmission. While it’s not available in Europe anymore, the Accord is still on sale in America, China, and Japan.
The current generation was first introduced in November 2022 to be sold for the 2023 model year onwards. By this point, hybrid power had been introduced to the lineup, with a petrol hybrid available as well as a plug-in hybrid, on sale in China.
