Some viral videos are so ridiculous that they’re hard to believe at first.
A clip showing a delivery driver bypassing a perfectly good driveway and driving directly across a homeowner’s lawn has been making the rounds across TikTok, Facebook, Reddit, and X, generating millions of views and plenty of debate along the way. At first glance, it’s easy to see why so many people questioned whether the footage was real. The decision seems so bizarre that it almost feels like something designed specifically to generate outrage online.
The video was spreading quickly, but much of the original context had been lost as it bounced from platform to platform. After tracing the footage through several reposts, I found what appeared to be the original source and multiple references pointing to southern Indiana. That gave me some confidence that the video was real, but one important piece was still missing.
Then WHAS11 in Louisville published a report identifying the location as Corydon, Indiana, and obtained a statement from Amazon itself.
Amazon Responds After Video Goes Viral
@midwest_homesteading Please share!! This is CRAZY!! It’s going viral on Instagram!! POV: Amazon saw our driveway and said, “Nah… the grass looks faster.” 🤦♀️🌱📦😂 Freshly mowed lawn? Check. ✅ Driveway? Check. ✅ Sidewalk? Check. ✅ Amazon: “I’m gonna take the scenic route.” 🚚💨🤣 To use this video in a commercial player or in broadcasts, please contact licensing@storyful.com At least the package arrived on time… unlike our lawn’s life expectancy. #farm #farmlife #amazon #instagram #fyp ♬ original sound – Brian & Elisha
The footage appears to have originally been shared online by Brian and Elisha, a southern Indiana couple who post homesteading content on social media and own the property seen in the video. In the footage, a woman driving a personal vehicle leaves the roadway, crosses a large section of the front lawn, walks a package to the front steps, and then drives back across the grass to leave. The decision quickly sparked debate online, largely because a driveway appears to be visible just a short distance away.
According to WHAS11, the incident occurred in Corydon, Indiana. The station also obtained a statement from Amazon after the video began gaining attention online.
“We’ve addressed this matter with the delivery partner,” Amazon told the station. “Individuals who deliver with Amazon Flex are independent contractors, not Amazon employees.”
Amazon also described the driver’s actions as “unacceptable” and said it holds delivery partners to high standards. The statement helps explain why the woman was driving a personal vehicle rather than an Amazon-branded delivery van. Amazon Flex allows independent contractors to deliver packages using their own vehicles.
The Internet Had Plenty of Opinions
Part of what made the video spread so quickly is that viewers across multiple platforms all seemed to have the same reaction: confusion. Many commenters couldn’t get past the fact that a driveway appeared to be just a few feet away. One Facebook user wrote, “Amazon saw our driveway and said, ‘Nah… the grass looks faster.'” Others joked that the driver’s GPS must have somehow mistaken the front yard for a road.
Others tried to come up with an explanation for what they were watching. One commenter suggested the driver appeared pregnant and wrote, “Maybe she has a job she doesn’t want, at least not that far along, and is sick of it.” That theory sparked a debate of its own, with another viewer sarcastically replying, “Oh, she’s pregnant, so she can do whatever she wants and ftw.” Several others dismissed the idea entirely, arguing that no amount of exhaustion explains choosing a lawn over a driveway.
Property damage was another common theme. “Hope she’s got insurance, that looks like destruction of property. CHARGE HER!” one commenter wrote. Another observed, “Notice how manicured the lawn looks,” while several homeowners pointed out that visible tire tracks may not be the only concern if sprinkler systems, drainage lines, septic components, or other landscaping features were buried beneath the yard. A number of commenters said they would be more upset about potential hidden damage than the grass itself.
Not everyone was convinced the clip was genuine. “I think it’s staged,” one commenter wrote. “All that zooming in and out, but somehow never thought to focus in on the license plate number.” Others questioned how anyone could make a decision that seemed so obviously unnecessary. In a way, that skepticism helped the clip go viral. The footage looked so unusual that many people shared it simply to ask the same question: Is this actually real?
Now that local reporting has identified the location as Corydon, Indiana, and Amazon has publicly responded to the incident, the answer appears to be yes. Whatever the reason, the video has become one of those rare viral clips that leaves nearly everyone asking the same question after watching it: Why not just use the driveway?
What do you think? Was this simply a momentary lapse in judgment, or is this one of the strangest delivery videos you’ve seen?
