You might think that if a salesman works for a particular car company, they would be biased towards that company’s products and would be more likely to buy them and promote them. However, a Chrysler salesman has broken the mould, saying he would never buy a Pacifica minivan.

Ryan Chamberlin (@michianacars) discussed the Chrysler Pacifica Minivan on a recent TikTok video. The Pacifica is the only car that Chrysler currently makes, although more models are on the way for the 2027 model year.

The Pacifica offers plenty of space and practicality due to its size, and they have a good amount of amenities and creature comforts to make life as pleasant as possible for the occupants. But there is no denying that, as the only car Chrysler makes, it is a tough sell for the company to appeal to everyone with the Minivan.

The Salesman explained his views in his TikTok video, explaining that it was down to usage as to why he would never buy one. But to give the other side of the argument, he did explain why the car might appeal to some, as well as the features that make it quite tempting.

While he would never buy one, Chamberlin did stress that the minivan has some plus points. “Both the Voyager and the Pacifica are powered by a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine, producing 287 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque,” he said. He then showed off the inside of the car to showcase what it has in the cabin.

“You have passive entry, leather interior, heated seats, heated steering wheel, parking assist, a huge display, wireless CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, tons of cup holders and adaptive cruise control,” he said. So there is plenty of equipment and amenities to ensure the car is as up to date as possible. After this, Chamberlin went around the back to show off the haulage capabilities.

All the seats fold into the floor, allowing you to have a huge amount of luggage space. This is called stow-and-go seating. The rear cargo section behind the third row of seats offers even more capacity, so big loads can be carried in the Pacifica. “And you can open all four doors with the key fob, plus you get remote start,” added the salesman. But why wouldn’t he buy one?

For this particular salesman, it came down to the usage of the Pacifica. As a father with three kids, with two driving already and one aged nine, there is no use for this particular vehicle in his life. Especially just for his wife and young daughter. That is part of the problem with the Pacifica, as it is an incredibly niche vehicle that only works in very particular instances. It’s not a car that will work for everyone.

Another reason behind this could be its reliability. Consumer Reports reported in February 2026 that Chrysler is the least reliable used car brand on the market. The 2018 Pacifica PHEV has been scoring particularly poorly over the years. In fact, complaints go back as far as 2015 regarding the American minivan, and a deeper look online reveals even more problems.

The Pacifica Is Not the Most Highly Regarded Vehicle

Pacifica minivans manufactured between 2022 and 2026 had a potential issue with the curtain airbags, which wouldn’t retain enough pressure when deployed. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) had to recall over 178,000 vehicles due to this problem, with over 30 percent of those being Pacifica and Voyager minivans. Issues with the sliding door mechanisms on the vehicles are also well documented. So it is safe to say there are quite a few issues with the Pacifica aside from its usability.
