A seemingly ordinary journey took an unexpected turn when a road worker holding a stop sign directing traffic appeared to walk backward into the front of a stationary car.

The footage, shared by Reddit user u/Motor_Fault_8806 in the r/dashcams community under the title “Karen at Work,” shows the worker holding a stop sign near a roadworks area.

The driver was stopped, waiting to be directed to continue, but the worker moves backward toward the vehicle and makes contact with the front of the car. She then turns around and appears surprised, seemingly suggesting that the driver had moved forward.

However, the footage appears to show the vehicle remaining stationary during the encounter.

Driver Points Out That the Incident Was Recorded

The driver can be heard expressing disbelief as the situation unfolds, pointing out that the incident has been captured on camera.

A passenger, though the audio is muffled, also appears to challenge the worker’s version of events, while the driver tries to explain that the vehicle hadn’t moved.

The situation becomes increasingly tense as the worker gestures towards the car. The driver then tries to leave while continuing to address the worker and, presumably, her colleagues about what happened.

The dashcam provides a visual record of the encounter, although the footage alone does not establish what the worker believed happened.

Reddit Users React to the Footage

The video quickly attracted reactions from Reddit users, many of whom criticized the worker’s apparent response.

One commenter wrote: “The audacity to get mad lol ma’am.”

Another user reflected on the growing prevalence of cameras, commenting: “Imagine all stuff people got away with before we had cameras everywhere…”

However, not everyone interpreted the incident in the same way. One commenter suggested the worker may have been confused by nearby traffic and mistakenly believed the car had moved forward.

That interpretation raises an important distinction between deliberately blaming another person and genuinely misunderstanding a confusing situation.
