A mechanic has shared a truly strange photo on Reddit, highlighting one of the new dangers that some motorists face. The Reddit user posted it in the Justrolledintotheshop subreddit, where it depicts a vehicle tire with a vape stuck inside.

This is one of the strangest things to be seen on the subreddit. It regularly posts unusual reasons for cars to fail or come into the workshop. One we covered recently was the smoking windshield on someone’s car. This is a very different situation.

The discussion around whether vapes are healthier than smoking or not is one for another time. However, their disposal is a hot topic too, and this situation could renew that discussion. Given that this vape has ended up in someone’s tire, it clearly just got dumped onto the road.

The caption for the Reddit post simply read “new vape storage place,” which adds a bit of humor to what was no doubt a frustrating situation for the driver. There were plenty of comments below the photo, which at the time of writing had amassed 1,000 upvotes on Reddit.

What Did Reddit Users Say Bout the Vape in the Tire?

There were some amusing comments about the vape ending up in the tire. The top comment read, “Terrible mouthfeel, tastes like rubber. One star.” Others felt sympathy for the car’s owner. “Looks like a decently fresh tire too :(,” wrote user imetators. “My SiL bought a new car last year and got a flat from a damn 510 cartridge on the first day in her brand new car. It amazes me what people throw out their windows without a second thought,” said another.

There was quite clearly a lot of frustration among drivers in the subreddit about the vape situation. With so many people using them, the disposal can become a problem. There are specific ways to dispose of a vape that are better for the environment than just throwing it into a regular or recycling bin. In this situation, it would appear the owner of the vape has just decided to throw it into the middle of the road.

It is getting rid of the batteries inside the vapes that is the problem. Empty vape fluid containers are usually made of plastic and, on their own, could be recycled. But getting rid of the batteries isn’t as easy. “My hot take is there should be a (weight-based) nationwide deposit system on lithium batteries like some states have with cans and bottles. I’m sure it would be a hell of a thing to set up, but it could completely take care of the battery e-waste problem,” suggested one Reddit user.

Nobody Wants a Vape in a Tire

At the end of the day, nobody wants to have a vape embedded in their tires. Nor do we want to see people just throwing them out of cars, leaving them as junk in the middle of the road. It is unfair to drivers who may not spot it in the middle of the road until it is too late. Repairing a tire can be expensive and quite a hassle for the car owner.

Disposing of a vape properly, by comparison, is much easier and keeps you from looking selfish or littering.
