The debate between electric propulsion and gasoline is something that is going to linger for some time. Not just when it comes to the costs of the two, but when it comes to the relative performance of each type of vehicle as well, be it a Ford Mustang or Tesla Cybertruck.
Some will argue that EVs can win easily due to the increased torque that they produce. But equally, a gasoline-powered car could have the ultimate legs on an EV when the electric car has reached its top speed.
If you are a fan of muscle cars, in particular the Ford Mustang, though, this video might not be for you. Uploaded by the Wheels YouTube channel, it shows a Tesla Cybertruck go up against a Ford Mustang muscle car, and a few others for that matter, in a variety of drag races.
We know that the Cybertruck is fast. It might weigh a huge amount, but it is a very fast car. What might not appeal to the hardcore petrol heads is just how fast the Tesla pickup truck can actually be. And this video perfectly demonstrates the speed it possesses.
The Tesla Cybertruck Took on the Challenge Against the Ford Mustang
The start of the video shows the main event. A Tesla Cybertruck taking on a Ford Mustang. If you were hoping for a victory for combustion power, then you will be disappointed as the Cybertruck easily pulls away from its muscle car rival. In fact, it wasn’t even a contest.
The Cybertruck launches off the line, and the instant torque from its powertrain shoots it into a huge lead. The Mustang didn’t get a bad start, but it simply couldn’t accelerate as fast as its electric rival. Fans of the Mustang won’t have enjoyed watching the next race either, as another Mustang came forward, this time to take on a Tesla Model S.
But this outcome was better for the Mustang. It pulled away better than the Tesla, which then began to reel in the muscle car. But the EV didn’t have the legs on its combustion rival, and the Mustang eased ahead to win, although it was close. Next up in the video was a Cybertruck versus a Chevrolet Camaro. This went the way of the first race against a Mustang, only it looked even easier for this Cybertruck as it left the muscle car behind.
Electric Cars Can Clearly Still Create a Surprise
A Lucid Air then came into the video as it took on a Dodge Charger. These are two very different four-door cars, and once again, look away if you like your combustion power. The Dodge never had a chance, the Lucid roaring off into the distance. It is the next part of this video that might make combustion fans wince the most.
The Lucid is next seen taking on a Chevrolet C8 Corvette. America’s greatest sports car and a source of great pride for the nation. No fan of the Corvette would want to see it lose against an EV, yet that is exactly what it did. The video is packed with many more outrageous moments showing an EV racing against an ICE car, and more often than not, it is electric power that takes home the spoils.
