The 2025 VW ID. Buzz revives the beloved Microbus with electric power, modern tech, and unmistakable retro flair.
Spacious enough for big trips, loaded with thoughtful features like an electrochromic panoramic roof, and finished in playful two‑tone colors, it blends nostalgia with real-world practicality.
Enough Space To Do the Electric Slide

Okay, not really, but if you hunch over a bit, you can give it a shot. According to Volkswagen, the ID Buzz offers 145.5 cubic feet of cargo space.
Sound like a lot? The manufacturer does clarify that this is measured with the second row folded down and third row removed, but it’s still there, so it still counts.
Moves as Fast as Lightning (If Lightning Were Slow)

You probably don’t look at something like a VW Bus and even desire for it to be fast. You need it to get up to speed on the highway, and that’s about it.
Surprisingly, though, with the 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system, you can get it to go from a complete stop to 60mph in 6 seconds.
The Floor Isn’t Lava, but the Ceiling Is Glass

The VW Bus is synonymous with a long road trip vehicle, so the German car manufacturer gave us access to as many of those beautiful road trip scenic views as possible. Aside from regular windows, the ID Buzz comes with the option for a glass roof. Ooh. Ahh.
Even cooler (literally), the glass roof has electrochromic smart dimming.
Two Shades, Too Cool

The ID. Buzz wouldn’t be a retro throwback without some vibrant color options. Each one available on the Volkswagen website shows a split-color with a Candy White top and the option for a more colorful bottom half.
These color options include:
- Pomelo Yellow Metallic
- Energetic Orange Metallic
- Mahi Green Metallic
- Metro Silver Metallic
- Cabana Blue Metallic
Keeping the Volkswagen Bus Vibes Alive

The ID. Buzz certainly isn’t the first time that a manufacturer has tried to bring back an iconic nameplate. However, when it came to creating a design that mirrored what the VW Bus looked like previously and giving it a more modern upgrade without losing the curb appeal and general notability of the vehicle, Volkswagen did a pretty stand-up job.
How do we judge this? Simple. If you see a VW Buzz coming down the street, even if you haven’t seen one before, you know exactly what it is, and exactly where its design language came from.
The ID. Buzz Was a Concept Car That Came to Life

According to Volkswagen, the ID. Buzz was initially unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in 2017 as a concept car. Fans and enthusiasts were lucky enough to see the concept car become a production reality, which is more than I can say for every concept car I’ve fallen in love with.
Now the ID Buzz has officially been released for sale, and, just like their predecessors decades ago, they are still fairly uncommon on the road, making them a fun treat to see driving around.
Why the ID. Buzz Is the EV Worth Turning Heads For

The 2025 VW ID. Buzz blends iconic styling, roomy practicality, and modern EV tech into a singularly charming package that’s as useful on family road trips as it is at grabbing attention, making it a must-see contender in the electric vehicle market and a true nostalgic throwback we can be excited to see.
The Volkswagen ID. Buzz is what you get when a company does retro right, but it isn’t the only resurrected model driving around on the streets today. Let us know in the comments which car you hope to see manufacturers bring back to the production line!
