Fast, bright red Corvettes usually turn heads for all the right reasons. This one allegedly caught deputies’ attention for something entirely different.
According to a Facebook post from the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, a 79-year-old Florida man, Ronald Theriault, was arrested after deputies allegedly discovered marijuana, a firearm, and drug packaging materials inside his Corvette during a traffic stop.
Deputies say the stop happened earlier this week along State Road 60 after they received a tip about suspected illegal drug sales involving the vehicle.
The allegations come directly from the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office and have not been proven in court. Theriault is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
Deputies Say Tip Led To Traffic Stop

According to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy stopped the Corvette on State Road 60 after receiving information about alleged drug sales.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies say they allegedly found more than 20 grams of individually packaged marijuana, packaging materials, a digital scale, and a Glock pistol.

79-Year-Old Driver Allegedly Admitted Selling Marijuana
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the driver was identified as 79-year-old Ronald Theriault.
Deputies say Theriault admitted to possessing the marijuana and told investigators he sells it. Authorities also said they had received multiple complaints regarding alleged drug sales involving Theriault in the State Road 60 corridor.
The Sheriff’s Office seized the Corvette as part of the investigation.
Sheriff’s Office Says It Has Zero Tolerance
In its Facebook post, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office said it has “zero tolerance for drug activity” in the community, regardless of the amount involved.
The agency encouraged residents with information about suspected drug sales to contact the Sheriff’s Office or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.
The charges and allegations against Theriault remain accusations at this stage, and the case will proceed through the court system.
