If you’ve been hoping to get your hands on a Toyota GR GT3 without spending supercar money, there is now a way to do it.

There’s only a small problem. It comes with a Happy Meal. Oh, and you have to be in Japan to take advantage of it. Minor details.

Toyota Gazoo Racing has teamed up with McDonald’s in Japan to offer a die-cast Toyota GR GT3 toy as part of a new promotion.

It’s one of the stranger car collaborations we’ve seen lately, but it also makes a weird amount of sense.

The GR GT3 Is Now A Happy Meal Toy In Japan

The promotion is being done with Tomica, the well-known Japanese die-cast brand.

Customers who buy a Happy Meal in Japan can receive one toy at random from a small lineup of vehicles.

One of those toys is the Toyota GR GT3. So, yes, you can technically own a GR GT3 for cheap. You just have to get lucky.

You Might Not Get One

Not every Happy Meal comes with the GR GT3.

The toy is randomly selected from a total pool of models, so you could end up with something completely different.

That is obviously part of the strategy, and it gives collectors a reason to keep coming back, especially if the GR GT3 is the one everyone actually wants.

The Other Cars In The Lineup

The GR GT3 may be the headline attraction, but it is not the only vehicle in the promotion.

Other models reportedly include a Nissan Skyline police car, a Hino fire truck, and a Toyota TownAce carrying an oversized hamburger. That last one feels especially perfect for McDonald’s.

The lineup is also set to rotate, which should give buyers more chances to collect different models over time.

A Secret Model Is Also Coming

The promotion does not stop with the initial batch of toys.

A secret model is also expected to be added later.

That has naturally led to speculation about what it could be, especially after a gold McDonald’s-themed race car appeared in promotional material.

If that ends up being the hidden car, it will probably become just as desirable as the GR GT3 itself.

Demand Has Already Been Strong

According to reports, some McDonald’s locations in Japan have already stopped offering the toys because demand has been so high.

That is not especially surprising. Anything involving Toyota Gazoo Racing, limited availability, and collectible die-cast cars was always going to get attention fast, and once collectors start chasing random toy drops, stock tends to disappear quickly.

It’s A Funny Promo — But It Also Says Something

On the surface, this is just a fun collaboration, but it also shows how much excitement still surrounds the GR GT3 name, even before the real production version officially arrives.

When a car becomes collectible before most people have even seen the final road-going version, you know the hype is real.

The Cheapest GR GT3 You’ll Ever Get

The real Toyota GR GT3 is expected to be something far more serious than a toy. It will almost certainly be expensive, exclusive, and out of reach for most people.

So until that day comes, this tiny Tomica version may be the most affordable way to park one in your life, even if it comes with fries.
