Ford is giving V8 loyalists something they have wanted for years. Instead of forcing buyers to rely on aftermarket tuners, the automaker is now offering a factory-supported way to push its V8 muscle machines far beyond stock performance.
The company has introduced official supercharger kits for the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 used in the Ford F-150 and Mustang, delivering huge power gains while still keeping the safety net of a factory-backed warranty.
The move signals a renewed focus on enthusiast customers who still crave big displacement and forced induction performance in an era increasingly dominated by electrification.
700 Horsepower for the F-150, 810 for the Mustang
At the center of the announcement is a partnership between Ford Performance and Whipple Superchargers. Together they developed a high-output supercharger package specifically engineered for 2026 models equipped with the 5.0-liter V8.
The upgrade transforms both the Ford F-150 pickup and the Mustang sports car into machines capable of delivering supercar-level horsepower.
For the F-150, the supercharger kit lifts output to a striking 700 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. That figure places the truck in the same power conversation as some of the most extreme performance pickups on the market. The Mustang goes even further.
When fitted to the Mustang GT or the track-focused Mustang Dark Horse, the system pushes output to as much as 810 horsepower and 615 lb-ft of torque when paired with the active valve exhaust system. Cars with the standard exhaust configuration produce about 800 horsepower.
The gains come courtesy of a Gen 6 3.0-liter twin-screw supercharger supplied by Whipple. The package also includes a dual-pass intercooler designed to keep intake temperatures under control during hard driving.
Additional components such as upgraded fuel system hardware, revised calibration software, and supporting hardware help ensure the engine can safely handle the added boost.
Factory-Backed Power with a Warranty
One of the most notable aspects of the program is how seamlessly the upgrade can be integrated into the vehicle purchase process. Buyers ordering a new 2026 F-150 or Mustang with the 5.0-liter V8 can request the supercharger kit as a dealer-installed option before delivery.
That means customers can essentially take home a supercharged vehicle straight from the showroom floor.
Ford says the hardware was engineered to meet the same durability expectations as its production vehicles. The supercharger package has been tested to withstand up to 100,000 miles of use under the company’s engineering standards.
To reinforce that promise, the upgrade comes with a Ford Performance warranty covering three years or 36,000 miles.
Another advantage is legality. Unlike many aftermarket tuning solutions that can run into emissions compliance problems, Ford states the kits are certified for use across all 50 U.S. states. That certification allows enthusiasts to enjoy serious performance gains without worrying about regulatory issues.
The Price of Admission
The cost of entry is relatively straightforward. Each supercharger package carries a price of about $10,500 before installation. For buyers comfortable with mechanical work, Ford even provides detailed installation instructions, though most owners will likely rely on dealership technicians to complete the job.
With more than 800 horsepower available in the Mustang configuration, the upgrade places the car in territory typically occupied by limited-production halo models. The boosted F-150, meanwhile, becomes a muscle truck capable of challenging many sports cars in straight-line acceleration.
Focusing on profitable models and keeping enthusiasts engaged are two of Ford’s core strategies as the company transitions toward new technologies. By offering factory-backed performance upgrades, the brand is allowing owners to push the limits of its iconic V8 machines without sacrificing reliability or warranty protection.
